Bowl attachment

Abstract

The present invention discloses an improved bowl attachment apparatus for children. The bowl attachment is a removable accessory to any bowl. The bowl attachment apparatus is designed for a child to easily scoop food with a utensil while holding a bowl. The bowl attachment apparatus comprises an attachment rim, a lip, and a handle. The attachment rim is easily and removably attachable to any bowl. The lip of the attachment rim is shaped like a small wave that creates a higher edge on the bowl it is attached to. This prevents children from inadvertently scooping food over the edge of the bowl. The handle is located on the rear side of the attachment apparatus to teach children to hold the bowl in place when scooping food with a utensil. This double action of scooping and holding reduces unwanted spillage and promotes self-feeding skills.

1 . A bowl attachment apparatus for aiding the use of feeding utensils, comprising:
 an attachment rim with a downward facing mouth configured to clip onto an upper edge of a bowl;   a lip configured to attach to a top end of the attachment rim and extending over and in the direction of the center of the bowl; and   a handle configured to attach to an intersection of the lip and the attachment rim and extend away from the center of the bowl.   
     
     
         2 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the attachment rim removably attaches to the upper edge of the bowl. 
     
     
         3 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the mouth of the attachment rim is curved to align with the circumference of the bowl. 
     
     
         4 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the attachment rim further extends in the downward direction along the outside wall of the bowl. 
     
     
         5 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the lip has a waveform shape. 
     
     
         6 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the lip has a concave shape. 
     
     
         7 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the lip extends over and in the direction of the center of the bowl at an angle ranging from 50 to 80 degrees. 
     
     
         8 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the handle extends away from the center of the bowl at an arced and downward angle. 
     
     
         9 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the handle is shaped to fit a forefinger on the bottom and a thumb on the top. 
     
     
         10 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the width of the attachment rim ranges from 1 to 6 inches. 
     
     
         11 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the lip prevents the spillage of food over the edge of the bowl. 
     
     
         12 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the bowl attachment apparatus is made of a synthetic polymer. 
     
     
         13 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the bowl attachment apparatus is dishwasher, microwave, freezer, and oven safe up to 400° F. 
     
     
         14 . A bowl attachment apparatus for promoting self-feeding skills, comprising:
 an attachment rim that is removably attachable to the edge of a bowl;   a handle extending away from the bowl and configured to be grasped by a human thumb and forefinger; and   a lip extending over the opening of the bowl and configured to prevent food from spilling during scooping with a utensil.   
     
     
         15 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the attachment rim further comprises a mouth. 
     
     
         16 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the attachment rim is removably attachable to the edge of the bowl via a clipping mechanism. 
     
     
         17 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the attachment rim further comprises a downward extension along the outside wall of the bowl. 
     
     
         18 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the lip has a semi-arched shape. 
     
     
         19 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the handle is configured to attach to the opposite side of the mouth of the attachment rim. 
     
     
         20 . The bowl attachment apparatus of  claim 14 , wherein the bowl attachment apparatus is made of food-grade silicone.
