Burping Garment Device

Abstract

A burping garment device is provided. The device is designed to be worn on a user's upper body, comprising a body with a U-shaped front section covering the shoulders and upper chest and a square or rectangular rear section covering the back. The body is constructed from an absorbent top layer and a waterproof bottom layer, ensuring effective containment of liquids, such as infant spit-up, while preventing penetration to the user's clothing. The front and rear sections are removably attached using fasteners for easy cleaning. Additionally, a weighted perimeter edge prevents slippage during use. A method of using the device is also described, including steps for attachment, placement on the user, and infant burping.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A burping garment device comprising:
 a body configured to be worn on a user's upper body, the body comprising:
 a front section covering both shoulders and an upper chest area of the user; 
 a rear section covering a back of the user; and 
 wherein the front section and the rear section are removably attached via a pair of fasteners. 
   
     
     
         2 . The burping garment device of  claim 1 , wherein the front section is generally U-shaped. 
     
     
         3 . The burping garment device of  claim 1 , wherein the rear section is generally square. 
     
     
         4 . The burping garment device of  claim 1 , wherein the rear section is generally rectangular. 
     
     
         5 . The burping garment device of  claim 1 , wherein the pair of fasteners is comprised of a hook and loop fastener, a snap button fastener, a magnet, or a male fastener and a female fastener. 
     
     
         6 . The burping garment device of  claim 1 , wherein a perimeter edge of the body is weighted. 
     
     
         7 . A burping garment device comprising:
 a body configured to be worn on a user's upper body, the body comprising:
 a front section covering both shoulders and an upper chest area of the user; 
 a rear section covering a back of the user; 
 a top layer; 
 a bottom layer; and 
 wherein the front section and the rear section are removably attached via a pair of fasteners. 
   
     
     
         8 . The burping garment device of  claim 7 , wherein the top layer is comprised of an absorbent material. 
     
     
         9 . The burping garment device of  claim 8 , wherein the top layer is comprised of an organic cotton, a bamboo, or a microfiber. 
     
     
         10 . The burping garment device of  claim 7 , wherein the bottom layer is comprised of a waterproof material. 
     
     
         11 . The burping garment device of  claim 10 , wherein the bottom layer is comprised of a thermoplastic polyurethane or a polyurethane laminate. 
     
     
         12 . The burping garment device of  claim 7 , wherein the top layer is comprised of a waterproof material. 
     
     
         13 . The burping garment device of  claim 12 , wherein the top layer is comprised of a thermoplastic polyurethane or a polyurethane laminate. 
     
     
         14 . The burping garment device of  claim 6 , wherein the front section is generally U-shaped. 
     
     
         15 . The burping garment device of  claim 6 , wherein the rear section is generally square. 
     
     
         16 . The burping garment device of  claim 6 , wherein the rear section is generally rectangular. 
     
     
         17 . The burping garment device of  claim 6 , wherein a perimeter edge of the body is weighted. 
     
     
         18 . A method of using a burping garment device, the method comprising the following steps:
 providing a burping garment device comprised of a body having a front section and a rear section, wherein the front section is generally U-shaped and the rear section is generally rectangular or square;   attaching the front section to the rear section via a plurality of fasteners;   placing the body onto the user's upper body such that the front section covers both of a user's shoulders and a user's upper chest area, and the rear section covers the user's back; and   positioning an infant on the front section to burp the infant.   
     
     
         19 . The method of using a burping garment device of  claim 18 , wherein the front section is comprised of an absorbent material or a waterproof material. 
     
     
         20 . The method of using a burping garment device of  claim 18 , wherein the rear section is comprised of a waterproof material.
