Abstract

An improved firearm 10 having a beveled flow enhanced exhaust port 40 which more efficiently exhausts gas 28 and other material from the bore 23 of the firearm 10 directly to the ambient environment 44 in which the firearm 10 is operably deployed, thereby reducing barrel rise while creating a lesser amounts of projectile particulates 140 which are more efficiently exhausted from the firearm 10 , and a method for reducing barrel rise which utilizes the flow enhanced and beveled exhaust port 40.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A firearm having a flow enhanced exhaust port.

2 . The firearm of claim 1 wherein said flow enhanced exhaust port has an inlet of a first size and an outlet of a second size and wherein said second size is smaller than said first size.

3 . The firearm of claim 2 further having a slide; and an opening within said slide which communicates with said flow enhanced exhaust port.

4 . The firearm of claim 3 wherein said flow enhanced exhaust port has a pair of substantially similar bevel portions.

         5 . A firearm comprising a beveled exhaust port.

6 . The firearm of claim 5 wherein said beveled exhaust port has a first inlet opening and a second outlet opening and wherein said first inlet opening is larger than said second outlet opening.

7 . A method for reducing barrel rise of a firearm is provided and includes the steps of creating a flow enhanced exhaust port within the firearm.

8 . The method of claim 7 wherein said flow enhanced exhaust port is beveled.

9 . A method for reducing barrel rise of a firearm comprising the steps of placing an at least one beveled opening within said barrel.

10 . The method of claim 9 wherein said beveled opening has a first inlet portion of a first size and a second outlet portion of a second size and wherein said first size is larger than said second size.
