Toliet seat and chair

Abstract

A toilet seat and toilet chair with detachable seat members that can be easily removed from around a child's neck. The apparatus includes a first seat member and a second seat member, wherein the first and second seat members are detachable. The apparatus includes a first latch disposed at a first end of the second seat member between the first and second seat members, and a second latch disposed at the second end of the second seat member between the first and second seat members opposite the first latch. During use, a user may detach the first and second seat members via the first and second latches. The second seat member may be later reconnected to the first seat member via the first and second latches.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A toilet seat apparatus comprising: a first seat member and a second seat member configured to form a seat when connected together; wherein the first and second seat members are connected via at least one hinge at a first latch, and detachably connected at a second latch opposite the first latch to provide access to an aperture in the seat. 
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second seat members are connected via a flexible linking member that allows the seat members to pivot relative to each other. 
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 2 , wherein detaching the second latch and pivoting the second seat member about the hinge provides radial access to the aperture. 
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the seat comprises three or more seat members, each detachably connected to adjacent seat members. 
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second seat members are connected via a flexible material allowing the seat to flex and enlarge the aperture for removal from around a user's neck. 
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the flexible material comprises a thermoplastic elastomer. 
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first seat member includes an outer edge and the second seat member includes a groove configured to receive the outer edge to provide a flush connection. 
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 7 , wherein the groove is located on the seat top surface of the second seat member. 
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second seat members are connected via a male-female connection, the male member comprising a flexible member with a notch, and the female member comprising a camber configured to engage with the notch. 
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 9 , wherein the male member extends downwardly from an inner surface of the second seat member, and the female member has an entrance on a top surface of the first seat member. 
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second seat members are connected at two latches, each latch comprising a male-female connection and a pair of teeth and receptacles on opposing sides of the seat inner surface. 
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second seat members are connected via at least one flexible linking member that allows the seat members to be moved apart to enlarge the aperture for removal from around a user's neck. 
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 12 , wherein the linking member comprises a drawer slide mechanism. 
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second seat members are connected together via magnetic connections. 
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second seat members are connected together via a latch mechanism comprising a snap-fit connection. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one seat handle extending from the seat for ease of carrying. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 16 , wherein the seat handle forms a portion of the seat bottom surface. 
     
     
         18 . A toilet chair apparatus comprising: a base having a base cavity and a base surface; and a toilet seat assembly removably positionable on the base surface comprising a first seat member and a second seat member connected via a hinge at a first latch and detachably connected at a second latch opposite the first latch. 
     
     
         19 . The apparatus of  claim 18 , further comprising a removable tub having a rim portion and a bowl portion, the rim portion configured to rest on the base surface such that the bowl portion is at least partially positioned within the base cavity. 
     
     
         20 . A method for removing an object stuck within an aperture of a toilet seat, the toilet seat having a first and a second seat member connected via at least one flexible linking member, the method comprising: moving the first and second seat members apart using the flexible linking member to enlarge the aperture; passing the object from within the aperture to outside the aperture through the enlarged aperture.
