Abstract

A cartomizer equips an aerosol generation device and includes:a body having a reservoir storing an aerosol-forming liquid, and containment walls arranged externally relative to the reservoir and formed of a polymer multilayer structure including at least one protection layer, acting as a barrier against moisture and/or gas or as an absorber of gas and/or moisture, and outer and inner layers laminated respectively on outer and inner sides of the protection layer,a heater for aerosolizing the aerosol-forming liquid in an aerosol chamber to generate an aerosol,at least one air inlet set upstream of the aerosol chamber and in fluid communication therewith, andan aerosol outlet set downstream of the aerosol chamber and in fluid communication therewith.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A cartomizer an aerosol generation device, said cartomizer comprising:
a body comprising a reservoir arranged for storing an aerosol-forming liquid and containment walls arranged externally relative to said reservoir, a heater for aerosolizing said aerosol-forming liquid in an aerosol chamber to generate an aerosol, at least one air inlet set upstream of said aerosol chamber and in fluid communication therewith, and an aerosol outlet set downstream of said aerosol chamber and in fluid communication therewith, wherein at least said containment walls of said body are formed of a polymer multilayer structure comprising at least one protection layer and an outer layer and an inner layer laminated respectively on outer and inner sides of said protection layer, said protection layer acting as a barrier against moisture and/or gas or as an absorber of gas and/or moisture.

2 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein said protection layer acts as a barrier against both moisture and gas.

3 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein said protection layer has a water vapor transmission rate that is less than 10 g/m 2 /24 hours.

4 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein said protection layer has an oxygen transmission rate that is less than 10 cm 3 /m 2 /24 hours.

5 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein said protection layer is chosen from a group consisting of Ethylene vinyl alcohol, Cyclic Olefin Copolymer, or a combination thereof.

6 . The cartomizer according to claim 5 , wherein said protection layer comprises at least one layer of Ethylene vinyl alcohol or Polyvinyl alcohol and at least one layer of Cyclic Olefin Copolymer.

7 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein at least one of said outer layer and inner layer is a thermoplastic co-polyester layer or a polyolefin layer.

8 . The cartomizer according to claim 7 , wherein said polyolefin layer is chosen from a group consisting of polypropylene, polyethylene, Polyvinylidene fluoride or a combination thereof.

9 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein said air inlet and said aerosol outlet are closed by a removable protection element.

10 . The cartomizer according to claim 9 , wherein each of said removable protection element elements acts as a gas and/or moisture barrier.

11 . The cartomizer according to claim 10 , wherein each of said removable protection element has a water vapor transmission rate that is less than 10 g/m 2 /24 hours and/or an oxygen transmission rate that is less than 10 cm 3 /m 2 /24 hours.

12 . The cartomizer according to claim 9 , wherein each of said removable protection element elements is a label or sticker comprising at least one layer made of aluminium and/or a film of Polyethylene terephthalate coated with Polyvinylidene chloride or Ethylene vinyl alcohol or Cyclic Olefin Copolymer.

13 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein said multilayer structure is defined by co-injection molding or by co-extrusion.

14 . The cartomizer according to claim 1 , wherein said body comprises:
 i) a mouthpiece comprising said aerosol outlet and allowing a user to inhale said generated aerosol through said aerosol outlet, ii) an outer wall defining a cavity, and iii) a central conduit leading to said aerosol outlet, and
wherein said reservoir is delimited at least partially by said outer wall and said central conduit.

         15 . An aerosol generation device comprising;
an electrical and control device, an exchangeable cartomizer according to claim 1 , physically and electrically coupled to said electrical and control device.
