Reconfigurable scarf

Abstract

A reconfigurable scarf is adaptable to creating a plurality of apparel accessories. The reconfigurable scarf comprises a body defining a first edge, a second edge, an intermediate portion extending between the first edge and the second edge, and a fastening mechanism disposed along a length of the first edge and the second edge of the body. The fastening mechanism is configured to selectively and removably fasten at least a part of the length of the first edge with at least a part of the length of the second edge to create a plurality of apparel accessories.

1 . A method of creating a plurality of apparel accessories, the method comprising:
 (a) providing a reconfigurable scarf comprising:
 a body defining a first edge, a second edge, and an intermediate portion extending between the first edge and the second edge, the intermediate portion configured to cover at least a portion of one or more of a wearer's neck, shoulders, and upper torso; and 
 a fastening mechanism disposed along a length of the first edge and the second edge of the body, the fastening mechanism configured to selectively and removably fasten at least a part of the length of the first edge with at least a part of the length of the second edge; 
   (b) placing said reconfigurable scarf around at least a portion of one or more of the wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso;   (c) adjusting the position and arrangement of the reconfigurable scarf around said portion of one or more of the wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso by fastening at least a first part of the length of the first edge with at least a first part of the length of the second edge using the fastening mechanism of the reconfigurable scarf to create a first accessory;   (d) unfastening the first edge from the second edge;   (e) readjusting the position and arrangement of the reconfigurable scarf around the same or a different portion of one or more of the wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso by fastening at least a second part of the length of the first edge with at least a second part of the length of the second edge using the fastening mechanism of the reconfigurable scarf to create a second accessory; and   (f) repeating steps (d) and (e) to create a plurality of accessories.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , further including folding at least one portion of the body of the reconfigurable scarf onto another portion, exposing an area of one or more of the wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso. 
     
     
         3 . A reconfigurable scarf comprising:
 a body defining a first edge, a second edge, and an intermediate portion extending between the first edge and the second edge, the intermediate portion configured to cover at least a portion of one or more of a wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso; and   a fastening mechanism disposed along a length of both the first edge and the second edge of the body, the fastening mechanism configured to selectively and removably fasten at least a part of the length of the first edge with at least a part of the length of the second edge,   wherein the reconfigurable scarf is capable of being reconfigured in a plurality of positions and arrangements around at least a portion of the wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso to create a plurality of accessories.   
     
     
         4 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , wherein the fastening mechanism includes one or more of a two-way zipper, a button and a buttonhole, a snap-fit arrangement, and a hook-and-loop fastener. 
     
     
         5 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , wherein the intermediate portion extending between the first edge and the second edge is divided into a plurality of portions, each adjoining portion of the plurality of portions defining a pair of edges, each pair of edge including an auxiliary fastening mechanism configured to selectively and removably fasten at least a portion of the pair of edges. 
     
     
         6 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 5 , wherein the auxiliary fastening mechanism includes one or more of a two-way zipper, a button and a buttonhole, a snap-fit arrangement, and a hook-and-loop fastener. 
     
     
         7 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 4 , comprising a combination of two different fastening mechanisms. 
     
     
         8 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , wherein the intermediate portion has a uniform width. 
     
     
         9 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , wherein the intermediate portion has a non-uniform width. 
     
     
         10 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , wherein the body is made of one or more materials including natural or synthetic fabrics and leather. 
     
     
         11 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , wherein the body is knitted, crocheted, or woven. 
     
     
         12 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , wherein the body has an inner surface lined with fleece. 
     
     
         13 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , including a plurality of embellishments on the body. 
     
     
         14 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 3 , being an infinity scarf. 
     
     
         15 . A reconfigurable scarf comprising:
 a body defining a first edge, a second edge, and an intermediate portion extending between the first edge and the second edge, the intermediate portion configured to cover at least a portion of one or more of a wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso; and   a two-way zipper disposed on at least a part of a length of the first edge and the second edge of the body, the two-way zipper having a first and a second zipper pull movable along an open-ended zipper track running along at least the part of the length of the first and second edge, the two-way zipper allowing the reconfigurable scarf to be unzipped partially or completely on either side without becoming unattached,   wherein the reconfigurable scarf is capable of being reconfigured in a plurality of positions and arrangements around at least a portion of one or more of the wearer's neck, shoulder and upper torso to create a plurality of accessories.   
     
     
         16 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 15 , wherein the two-way zipper is disposed on a part of the length of the first edge and the second edge of the body. 
     
     
         17 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 16 , including an additional fastening mechanism disposed on a remaining length of the first edge and the second edge of the body, the additional fastening mechanism including a button and a buttonhole, two parts of a snap-fit arrangement, and hook-and-loop fastener. 
     
     
         18 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 15 , wherein the intermediate portion extending between the first edge and the second edge is divided into a plurality of portions, each adjoining portion of the plurality of portions defining a pair of edges, each pair of edge including an auxiliary fastening mechanism configured to selectively and removably fasten at least a portion of the pair of edges. 
     
     
         19 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 18 , wherein the auxiliary fastening mechanism includes one or more of a two-way zipper, a button and a buttonhole, a snap-fit arrangement, and a hook-and-loop fastener. 
     
     
         20 . The reconfigurable scarf of  claim 15 , being an infinity scarf.
