Access portal assembly
Abstract
An access portal assembly includes a first portal structure configured to be attached to a first structure. The first structure forms a first interior volume. The access portal assembly further includes a second portal structure configured to be attached to a second structure. The second structure forms a second interior volume. The access portal assembly further includes a gasket coupled to a distal end of the first portal structure or the second portal structure. The first portal structure and the second portal structure are to interface to provide access between the first interior volume and the second interior volume.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An access portal assembly comprises:
a first portal structure configured to be attached to a first structure, the first structure forming a first interior volume; a second portal structure configured to be attached to a second structure, the second structure forming a second interior volume; and a gasket coupled to a distal end of the first portal structure or the second portal structure, wherein the first portal structure and the second portal structure are to interface to provide access between the first interior volume and the second interior volume.
2 . The access portal assembly of claim 1 further comprising:
one or more first fasteners configured to secure the first portal structure to the first structure; and
one or more second fasteners configured to secure the second portal structure to the second structure.
3 . The access portal assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first portal structure further comprises a cover structure that is configured to removably block the access between the first interior volume and the second interior volume.
4 . The access portal assembly of claim 3 , wherein an actuating device is configured to secure the cover structure in an open position or in a closed position.
5 . The access portal assembly of claim 3 , wherein the first portal structure comprises an inward protrusion that protrudes from an inner side surface of the first portal structure, wherein the cover structure is configured to be disposed on the inward protrusion responsive to the cover structure being in a closed position.
6 . The access portal assembly of claim 5 , wherein the inward protrusion is configured to be coupled to a cargo net to prevent objects from passing from the first interior volume to the second interior volume.
7 . The access portal assembly of claim 1 , wherein:
the first structure is one or more of a collapsible tent, retractable tent, foldable tent, or a canvas tent that has a solid bottom surface; the second structure is one or more of a trailer, truck bed covering, or camper shell; and the first structure is disposed above the second structure.
8 . The access portal assembly of claim 1 , wherein:
a first flange of the first portal structure is configured to be fastened to a lower wall of the first structure; and a second flange of the second portal structure is configured to be fastened to an upper wall of the second structure.
9 . The access portal assembly of claim 1 , wherein the gasket is configured to substantially seal the interface between the first portal structure and the second portal structure.
10 . The access portal assembly of claim 1 , the access portal assembly has a telescoping construction that is adjustable based on distance to be used between the first structure and the second structure.
11 . The access portal assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second portal structure configured to attach to a ladder to provide access between the second interior volume and the first interior volume.
12 . A portal structure comprising:
a main body configured to attach to a floor of a tent, wherein the tent forms a first interior volume, the main body forming an opening to provide access into and out of the first interior volume of the tent; one or more doors coupled to the main body via one or more hinges, wherein the one or more doors are configured to provide the access responsive to being in an open position and configured to block the access responsive to being in a closed position; and an inward protrusion extending from a sidewall of the main body, wherein the one or more doors are to be disposed on the inward protrusion responsive the one or more doors being in the closed position.
13 . The portal structure of claim 12 further comprising one or more gas struts configured to actuate the one or more doors into the open position.
14 . The portal structure of claim 12 further comprising one or more locks secured to the one or more doors to secure the one or more doors in the closed position.
15 . The portal structure of claim 14 , wherein the one or more locks are spring-loaded latches that are configured to secure to the main body to secure the one or more doors in the closed position.
16 . The portal structure of claim 12 , wherein the inward protrusion forms one or more openings configured to couple to a cargo net to at least partially block the opening formed by the main body.
17 . The portal structure of claim 12 , wherein the main body comprises a first flange to secure to an upper surface of the floor of the tent and a second flange to secure to a lower surface of the floor of the tent, wherein the first flange and the second flange are secured together.
18 . A method comprising:
attaching an upper portal structure to a lower wall of a first structure; attaching a lower portal structure to an upper wall of a second structure; interfacing the upper portal structure with the lower portal structure; and actuating a cover structure to block access between a first interior volume of the first structure and a second interior volume of the second structure.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the first structure is a tent, and wherein the second structure is a trailer.
20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein the interfacing of the upper portal structure with the lower portal structure comprises disposing the first structure on the second structure.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
