Abstract

The present invention relates to a pole-mounted anchoring device. The anchoring device is equipped with various adjustable components to insure a stable foundation. The device has a cone-shaped, threaded base component of plastic or metal that screws the device into the ground. The device also has a set of bags that hangs from the device to add weight to the overall unit. The number of weighted bags, amount of sand, or other material in the bags can be altered depending on the weather conditions and size of the item to be supported. Further, the device may be disassembled and transported via a carrying bag.

What is claimed is:

         1 . An anchoring system for a pole-mounted shade or an advertising item, the anchoring system comprising;
 a pole; a shade attached to the pole; a base connected to an end of a pole; a hanging rack connected to the pole; and a plurality of bags for attachment to the hanging rack.

         2 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the base is comprised of a plurality of ridges and a plurality of valleys.

         3 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 2 , wherein the base is cone shaped and the plurality of ridges and plurality of valleys are located on an exterior surface of the base.

         4 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 3 , wherein the plurality of ridges have different widths.

         5 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of bags have a closure.

         6 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 5 , wherein the closure is one of a drawstring, a magnet, a snap, a hook and loop fastener or a combination thereof.

         7 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the base is configured to be driven in a loose material or a compact material.

         8 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the shade is one of an umbrella, a tent, a tarp, a flag or an advertising item.

         9 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the pole comprises a handle and a slidable element to open or close the shade.

         10 . The anchoring system as recited in claim 1 , wherein the shade is comprised of a pair of layers to allow air transfer between the pair of layers of the shade.

         11 . A kit comprising;
 a pole-mounted item; a plurality of bags; at least one base having a threaded exterior; and a hanging rack for connection to the at least one base, wherein the plurality of bags are connected to the hanging rack, and further wherein the hanging rack is spaced apart from an end of the pole-mounted item.

         12 . The kit as recited in claim 11 , wherein the pole-mounted item is an umbrella, a flag, a tent, a tarp or an advertising item.

         13 . The kit as recited in claim 11 further comprising a carrying bag.

         14 . The kit as recited in claim 11 further comprising a scoop or a shovel.

         15 . The kit as recited in claim 11 , wherein the kit comprises at least two bases, wherein a first of the at least two bases is comprised of a tight threading and a second of the at least two bases comprises less threading than the first of the at least two bases.

         16 . The kit as recited in claim 15 , wherein the tight threading is for threading the base into a compact material and the less threading is for threading the base into a loose material.

         17 . A beach umbrella comprising;
 a pole for supporting the beach umbrella; and an anchoring system for attachment to the pole for the beach umbrella, wherein the anchoring system comprises a base element having a cone shape and a plurality of ridges and a plurality of valleys, a plurality of bags, and a hanging rack for supporting the plurality of bags from the pole.

         18 . The beach umbrella as recited in claim 17 , wherein the plurality of bags are filled with a weighted material and each of the plurality of bags includes a closure.

         19 . The beach umbrella as recited in claim 18 , wherein the closure for each of the plurality of bags is a drawstring and as each of the bags are filled with a weighted material the drawstring closes.

         20 . The beach umbrella as recited in claim 17 , wherein the base element can have different widths of ridges for different types of soils.
