Abstract
The present invention is directed toward a hair catching device for drains designed to catch hair and other debris and prevent unwanted clogs and backups in plumbing systems. The hair catching device for drains is designed to fit within standard sink, bathtub, and shower drains, comprising a single body with an upper and lower portion, wherein said lower portion is comprised of legs with hook elements for entangling and collecting hair and other debris. The hair catching device for drains is flexible for simple installation and removal and provides an effective solution in preventing clogs and backups.

(a) a body comprising an upper portion, a lower portion, and a central aperture extending said body; (b) one or more legs disposed on said lower portion of said body; and (c) a plurality of hook elements positioned on said legs.
2 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 further comprising one or more feet disposed on a terminal end of each of said one or more legs, wherein said one or more feet extend laterally from said one or more legs.
3 . The hair catching device as in claim 2 further comprising one or more pegs disposed on said one or more feet.
4 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 further comprising one or more laterally facing apertures disposed in said upper portion of said body.
5 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 wherein a portion of said plurality of hook elements are substantially “J” shaped.
6 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 wherein a portion of said plurality of hook elements are substantially “T” shaped.
7 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 wherein said body is conical in shape with said upper portion having a smaller diameter than said lower portion.
8 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 wherein said lower portion is wider than said upper portion.
9 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 wherein a portion of said plurality of hooks are disposed on a continuous strip.
10 . The hair catching device as in claim 9 wherein said continuous strip is removably secured to at least one of said one or more legs.
11 . The hair catching device as in claim 1 wherein said lower portion is removably secured to said upper portion.
12 . The hair catching device as in claim 4 further comprising one or more feet disposed on a terminal end of each of said one or more legs, wherein said one or more feet extend laterally from said one or more legs.
13 . The hair catching device as in claim 12 further comprising one or more pegs disposed on said one or more feet.
14 . The hair catching device as in claim 4 wherein said lower portion is wider than said upper portion.
15 . The hair catching device as in claim 14 further comprising one or more feet disposed on a terminal end of each of said one or more legs, wherein said one or more feet extend laterally from said one or more legs.
16 . The hair catching device as in claim 12 further comprising one or more pegs disposed on said one or more feet.
17 . The hair catching device as in claim 4 wherein said lower portion is removably secured to said upper portion.
18 . The hair catching device as in claim 2 wherein a portion of said plurality of hooks are disposed on a continuous strip.
19 . The hair catching device as in claim 18 wherein said body is conical in shape with said upper portion having a smaller diameter than said lower portion.
