Interchangeable strap system and device for open-toed footwear

Abstract

Disclosed herein is an interchangeable strap on an opened toed footwear that includes a sole and a strap. Connected to one or more of the ends of the strap is an insert. The sole of the footwear includes housing units that are connectable to the strap inserts found on one or more strap end. The connection between the insert and the housing unit is both connectable and detachable.

         21 . A footwear device, comprising:
 a sole comprising:
 a front housing disposed within the sole, the front housing including a twist lock connector; 
 a first side well; and 
 a second side well; and 
   a strap, comprising:
 a front insert having a twist lock connector that is complimentary to the twist lock connector in the front housing of the sole; 
 a first side insert; and 
 a second side insert; 
   wherein the first side well of the sole connects to first side insert of the sole, and   wherein the second side well of the sole connects to the second side insert of the sole.   
     
     
         22 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the front housing is disposed within an aperture in the sole. 
     
     
         23 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the twist lock connector on the first insert is connectable to the front housing in the sole by inserting the twist lock connector on the first insert of the strap into the front housing with the sole and twisting the twist lock connector on the front insert into a locking position into the front housing in the sole. 
     
     
         24 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the strap is removable from the sole. 
     
     
         25 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the strap is selectively connectable to the sole. 
     
     
         26 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the first side insert of the strap is insertable into the first side well of the sole. 
     
     
         27 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the second side insert of the strap is insertable into the second side well of the sole. 
     
     
         28 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the twist lock connector of the sole is secured in the sole through the front housing by an adhesive. 
     
     
         29 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the strap is attached to the first side insert. 
     
     
         30 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the strap is attached to the second side insert. 
     
     
         31 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the first side insert includes an end which connects to the sole by inserting the end of first side insert into the first side well. 
     
     
         32 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the second side insert includes an end which connects to the sole by inserting the end of the second side insert into the second side well. 
     
     
         33 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the sole includes an arch support layer. 
     
     
         34 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein sole includes a bottom layer that includes rubber. 
     
     
         35 . The footwear device of  claim 34 , wherein the rubber is a vulcanized rubber. 
     
     
         36 . The footwear device of  claim 34 , wherein the rubber is a nitrile rubber. 
     
     
         37 . The footwear device of  claim 34 , wherein the rubber is a butyl rubber. 
     
     
         38 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the sole includes a top layer that includes foam. 
     
     
         39 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the strap extends upwardly from the sole when the strap is connected to the sole to accommodate a human foot between the strap and the sole. 
     
     
         40 . The footwear device of  claim 21 , wherein the first side well and the second side well are installed in corresponding apertures in the sole.
