Expandable Crowd Barricade System
Abstract
A portable crowd barricade system consisting of two sections, an upper section and a lower section. Each section shares a common structural design with offset contact points on the ground that decrease in width from the lower section through the upper section to create forward and backward force stability throughout the structure. This stability is further strengthened by securing points to a variety of surface material with anchor bolts. The upper section frame is covered by small diameter mesh to inhibit climbing. The upper section is further strengthened by a removable support member that connects the top distal ends of the upper section, rearwardly to the surface through an anchor bolt. Each section is comprised of a socket side and a tab side that creates a protected connection point to allow for both a secure connection for an adjacent barricade section but also allows for forward and rearward movement.

of two sections identified as a lower and an upper; where said upper section sets on said lower section; that share a common supportive structure comprised a plurality of support members in-between a lower rail and a top rail; with a plurality of offset contact points to both the front and rear of said barricade, that can be connected to a surface; having a descending width of said common supportive structure from bottom of said lower section, through said common supportive structure to the top of said upper section; where said barricade can be interconnected to increase length of the overall said barricade length.
2 . The said barricade defined in claim 1 that common support structure is achieved in said lower section with a descending modified upside-down W shape:
where the said bottom rail of said lower section is shaped in a modified upside-down W looking at it from the top down;
the top rail of said lower section is shaped in said modified upside-down W looking at it from the top down, with said upper rail having a reduction in width creating a rearward angle of said support members in-between said lower and top rails of the lower section;
with interconnecting points of said modified upside-down W on said lower rail that create said offset contact points to the front and rear of said barricade having rearward facing tabs to secure said barricade to the ground.
3 . The barricade defined in claim 1 where the common support structure is achieved in said upper section with said descending modified upside-down W shape:
where said bottom rail of the upper section is shaped in said modified upside-down W looking at it from the top, meeting the same dimensions as said top rail of the lower section;
where said top rail of the upper section is shaped in a modified V where said vertical support members are provided at either end and the middle of said upper section creating a rearward angle of said support members from said bottom rail of the upper section to said top rail of said upper section.
4 . The barricade defined in claim 3 that comprises of a separate removable support member that can be fixed to the top of said upper section at either distal end on one end of the said removable support member and to a surface to the rear at the other end.
5 . The barricade defined in claim 2 , that comprises of connection points between said sections that are adjacent to one another for the increase in the length of the overall said barricade that allow for each said section to move independently forward and backward:
where a tab extends from one said barricade section distal end support member, align with a socket at the corresponding location of the adjacent similarly facing said barricade section distal end support member: where said socket is open to the rear of the section giving access to a removable connection bolt; where said removable connection bolt will connect the said socket to the said tab; where said socket has an opening for said tab to the rear of said support member, the outside of said support member, and a partial opening to the front of said support member containing said socket, and has no opening to the inside of the said support member.
6 . The barricade defined in claim 3 , that comprises of connection points between said sections that are adjacent to one another for the increase in the length of the overall said barricade that allow for each said section to move independently forward and backward:
