Abstract

A copper-zinc alloy contains 66.0% to 73.0% by weight Cu, 1.5% to 2.5% by weight Si, 0.01% to 0.15% by weight P, at most 0.1% by weight Pb, balance zinc and also unavoidable impurities. The specified copper-zinc alloy is a lead-free brass alloy with improved dezincification resistance that can be produced cost-effectively indeed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A copper-zinc alloy, comprising:
 66. 0% to 73.0% by weight Cu; 1. 5% to 2.5% by weight Si; 0. 01% to 0.15% by weight P; at most 0.1% by weight Pb; and balance zinc and also unavoidable impurities.

2 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , further comprising less than 0.15% by weight As.

3 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , further comprising less than 0.10% by weight Al.

4 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , further comprising less than 0.25% by weight Sn.

5 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , wherein the Cu content is 68.0% to 72.5% by weight.

6 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , wherein the Si content is 1.6% to 2.3% by weight.

7 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , wherein the P content is 0.05% to 0.07% by weight.

8 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , wherein the Cu content is 68.5% to 71.0% by weight.

9 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , wherein the Si content is 2.0% to 2.3%, by weight.

         10 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , further comprising:
 0% to 3% β-phase; 12% to 28% γ-phase; and balance a-phase.

         11 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 8 , wherein the γ-phase content is 25% to 27%.

12 . The copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 , wherein the copper-zinc alloy has a dezincification depth of at most 200 μm.

13 . A manufacturing method, which comprises the steps of:
providing the copper-zinc alloy according to claim 1 ; and producing components for drinking-water applications from the copper-zinc alloy.
