Abstract

The invention is a method of playing a memory card game that requires providing a deck of cards that comprise pairs of matching cards. The pairs of matching cards may include a privilege and/or handicap that have special effects. The game can include shuffling the cards and arranging them face side down in an arrangement. A player's turn involves selecting two cards from the arrangement to search for a pair of matching cards. If selected cards form a pair of matching cards, the player removes the pair, adds them to their card collection and gets another turn. If the two cards selected do not form a pair of matching cards, the player returns the cards to the arrangement and their turn concludes. The turns continue until all the cards have been removed. After all the cards are gone, the player with the most cards wins.

What is claimed is:

         1 . A method of playing a memory card game on a computer, comprising:
 (a) providing a deck of cards represented on a computer screen comprising:
 a plurality of pairs of matching cards, each card of said plurality of matching cards having a face side and a back side; and
 wherein the face side of one or more cards contains a designation that allows for the operation of an additional rule;
   (b) shuffling and arranging said cards by operation of a computer to form an arrangement wherein only the back sides of the cards are visibly represented on a computer screen;   (c) selecting, by a first player, two cards from said arrangement, and having the computer display the face sides of the selected cards to search for a pair of matching face sides during a turn;   (d) if said two face sides of the cards selected in step (c) form a pair of matching cards, said pair of matching cards is removed from said arrangement and is added to a card collection of the first player and the first player repeats step (c) to continue said turn; if the pair of matching cards each contain the same designation for the operation of an additional rule, the player performs an additional rule;
 the additional rule allows a player to select one or more additional face down cards to temporarily view before the card is returned face down to the arrangement;
   (e) if said two cards selected in step (c) do not form a pair of matching cards, the computer operates to return said two cards to said arrangement and said turn concludes; (f) repeating steps (c) through (e) for a turn for a second player and having said first player and said second player successively repeat steps (c) through (e) in sequential turns until all said cards have been removed from said arrangement; and (g) declaring a winner, wherein said winner is a player with the highest number of pairs of cards.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a minimum number of cards in the game is six cards.

         3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one player plays the game.

         4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a player may comprise a team of individuals.

         5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a player, whether playing solitarily or not, may be playing against time or may be playing against number of turns or playing with a finite or specified number of turns.

         6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one player is nonhuman.

         7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein if a player takes a pair of matching cards from another player by operation of an additional rule, and the taken pair of matching cards contain a designation for an additional rule, said taking player perform the additional rule designated on the taken pair of matching cards.

         8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein if a player takes a pair of matching cards from another player by operation of an additional rule, and the taken pair of matching cards contain a designation for an additional rule, said taking player may not perform the additional rule designated on the taken pair of matching cards.

         9 . A method of playing a memory card game on a mobile application, comprising a data processing server and network operable to:
 (a) provide a deck of cards represented on a mobile phone or tablet screen comprising:
 a plurality of pairs of matching cards, each card of said plurality of matching cards having a face side and a back side; and
 wherein the face side of one or more cards contains a designation that allows for the operation of an additional rule;
   (b) shuffling and arranging said deck of card operation of the mobile application to form an arrangement wherein only the back sides of the cards are visibly represented on a mobile phone or tablet screen;   (c) selecting, by a first player, two cards from said arrangement, and having the computer display the face sides of the selected cards to search for a pair of matching face sides during a turn;
 if said two face sides of the cards selected in step (c) form a matching pair said matching pair of cards is removed from said arrangement and added to a card collection of the first player and the first player repeats step (c) to continue said turn; if the pair of matching cards each contain the same designation for the operation of an additional rule, the player may elect to perform the additional rule;
 an additional rule may comprise a player taking a matching pair of cards from another player;
   (d) if said two cards selected in step (c) do not form a pair of matching cards, the mobile application operates to return said two cards to said arrangement face down and said turn concludes; (e) repeating steps (c) through (e) for a turn for a second player and having said first player and said second player successively repeat steps (c) through (e) in sequential turns until all said cards have been removed from said arrangement; and (f) declaring a winner, wherein said winner is a player with the highest number of pairs of cards.

         10 . A method of playing a memory card game on a computer, comprising:
 (a) providing a physical or electronic or virtual deck of cards represented on a computer screen comprising:
 a plurality of pairs of matching cards, each card of said plurality of matching cards having a face side and a back side; and
 wherein the face side of one or more cards contains a designation that allows for the operation of an additional rule at least one privilege or handicap, or both, contained on a pair of cards of said plurality of pairs of matching cards;
   (b) physically or electronically shuffling and arranging said cards face side down shuffling and arranging said cards by operation of a computer to form an arrangement wherein only the back sides of the cards are visibly represented on a computer screen;   (c) selecting, by a first player, two cards from said arrangement, and having the computer display the face sides of the selected cards to search for a pair of matching cards face sides during a turn;   (d) if said two face sides of the cards selected in step (c) form a pair of matching cards, said first player removes said pair of matching cards is removed from said arrangement and adds said pair of matching cards to their own is added to a card collection of the first player and the first player repeats step (c) to continue said turn; if the pair of matching cards each contain the same designation for the operation of one or more additional rules, the player performs an additional rule;
 wherein the additional rules included in the deck of cards are:
 allowing a player to select one or more additional face down cards to temporarily view before the card is returned face down to the arrangement; forcing a player to skip a next turn; allowing a player to take a matching pair of cards from another player; allowing a player to take a matching pair of cards from the arrangement;
