Abstract
A wall framing stud defines a singular body which includes a first set or series of vertically-elongated apertures are defined horizontally into and through and along long vertical side surfaces of the elongated singular body and a second set or series of vertically-elongate apertures are defined horizontally into and through and along the long vertical side surfaces of the elongated singular body. The first set and second set of elongate apertures are parallel to each other and are longitudinally offset from each other, wherein a thermal bridge between the vertical exterior-facing surface and the vertical interior-facing surface is disrupted. In another embodiment, the apertures are vertically aligned, depth-defined apertures, partially formed and not all the way through the stud, are also formed in the stud vertical side surface which provide for enhanced thermal bridging disruption.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A wall framing stud, comprising:
an elongated singular body defining a vertical exterior-facing surface, a vertical interior-facing surface opposite the vertical exterior-facing surface and long vertical side surfaces spanning between the vertical exterior-facing surface and the vertical interior-facing surface,
wherein a first set or series of vertically-elongated apertures are defined horizontally into and through and along the long vertical side surfaces of the elongated singular body;
wherein a second set or series of vertically-elongated apertures are defined horizontally into and through and along the long vertical side surfaces of the elongated singular body; and
wherein the first set and second set of elongate apertures are parallel to each other and are longitudinally offset from each other, wherein a thermal bridge between the vertical exterior-facing surface and the vertical interior-facing surface is disrupted.
2 . The wall framing stud of claim 1 , wherein the vertical exterior facing surface and the exterior facing surface are continuous planar surfaces.
3 . The wall framing stud of claim 1 , wherein the first and second set of elongate apertures are located along a midline of the long vertical side surface.
4 . The wall framing stud of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of vertically spaced-apart cutouts are defined into the elongated singular body along the vertical exterior-facing surface, and wherein a ridge member is defined between an adjacent pair of the vertically spaced-apart cutouts, and the ridge member including a distal portion spaced laterally from at least one of the first set of apertures, wherein a thermal bridge pathway between the ridge member and the vertical interior-facing surface is disrupted.

The wall framing stud of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first or the second set of apertures are formed as vertically-aligned depth-defined apertures that do not penetrate through to another side of the long vertical side surface, thereby reducing a thermal bridge pathway from the interior and exterior surfaces of the stud.
6 . The wall framing stud of claim 4 wherein the distal ends of the singular body are configured to not include the ridge member on the vertical exterior-facing surface.
7 . The wall framing stud of claim 1 wherein the vertical exterior-facing surface of the vertical wall framing stud is adapted to be secured or fastened to a wall board.
8 . The wall framing stud of claim 7 further comprising insulation in and about the apertures in and around the wall framing stud.
9 . The wall framing stud of claim 8 , wherein the insulation includes one of a spray foam, organic cellulose, a hemp cellulose.
10 . The wall framing stud of claim 1 wherein each of the elongate apertures are configured from a series of closely spaced holes.
11 . The wall framing stud of claim 1 wherein the singular body is configured to be a component in at least one of a wall, floor or roof.
12 . The wall framing stud of claim 1 , wherein the elongated singular body comprises at least one of wood, wood composite, hemp composite, plastic or ceramic composite.
13 . The wall framing stud of claim 4 wherein the vertical exterior-facing surface of the vertical wall framing stud is adapted to be secured or fastened to a wall board so that an air gap is formed between each cutout and an inside-facing surface of the wall board.
