Abstract

A printing apparatus includes a stacking portion on which a print medium printed by a printing unit configured to perform printing is stacked, a discharge unit configured to convey the print medium printed by the printing unit to the stacking portion, a passage forming portion arranged above the stacking portion so as to face the stacking portion and configured to form a discharge passage of the print medium together with the stacking portion, and an outlet port located at a downstream end of the discharge passage in a conveying direction of the print medium. In the outlet port, the passage forming portion extends to the downstream side of the stacking portion in the conveying direction.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 9 . (canceled)

         10 . A printing apparatus comprising:
a printing unit configured to perform printing; a stacking portion on which a print medium printed by the printing unit is stacked; a conveying unit configured to convey the print medium printed by the printing unit to the stacking portion in a conveying direction; a passage forming portion arranged above the stacking portion so as to face the stacking portion, and configured to form a discharge passage of the print medium together with the stacking portion; and guide members supported by the passage forming portion so as to be pivotable in accordance with contact with the print medium, and configured to guide an end of the print medium discharged from the discharge passage to a position lower than the stacking portion.

11 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the guide members are configured to guide an end of the print medium which protrudes from a downstream end of the stacking portion in the conveying direction to the position lower than the stacking portion.

12 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the guide members are configured to prevent a curled sheet from riding on a top surface of the printing apparatus.

13 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the printing medium is a roll sheet.

14 . The printing apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein
the printing medium curls in a direction due to a winding direction of the roll sheet.

15 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the stacking portion has a length shorter than a length of the printing medium.

16 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the printing medium curls in an upward direction while the printing medium is conveyed in the discharge passage.

17 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
a downstream end of the passage forming portion in the conveying direction is located on a downstream side of the downstream end of the stacking portion in the conveying direction.

18 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the printing unit is configured to perform printing by discharging ink from a printhead.

19 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the discharge passage includes an inclined portion and a horizontal portion.

20 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the discharge passage includes:
a first inclined portion at an upstream end of the discharge passage with respect to the conveying direction; a second inclined portion at a downstream end of the discharge passage in the conveying direction; and a horizontal portion at a central portion between the upstream end and the downstream end of the discharge passage.

21 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the discharge passage includes a downstream end and an upstream end with respect to the conveying direction, and the downstream end is located at a higher position than the upstream end.

22 . The printing apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein
the passage forming portion includes an opening/closing portion.

23 . The printing apparatus according to claim 22 , wherein
the opening/closing portion is provided with a handle configured to be operated by a user, and opening of the opening/closing portion allows the user to perform cancellation of a jam.
