Abstract

An aerosol-generating article is provided, including: an aerosol-generating substrate; a downstream section disposed downstream of the aerosol-generating substrate; and a taggant disposed on the downstream section, an upstream end of the taggant being at least 0.5 millimetre from a downstream end of the aerosol-generating substrate, the taggant being a chemical or physical marker added to a component, a presence of which may be detected by a suitable detector configured to enable the component to be identified, the downstream section further including a wrapper, the taggant being disposed on the wrapper, and the upstream end of the taggant being aligned with an upstream end of the wrapper. An aerosol-generating system including the aerosol-generating article and an aerosol-generating device is also provided.
