Abstract

A firearm positioning system for spacing a butt of a firearm forwardly from a chest of a user includes a shirt or similar garment with a pocket positioned on the front side of the shirt near one of a pair of arm holes of the shirt. A pad is insertable into the pocket to space the butt of the firearm forwardly of the chest of the user.

1 . A firearm positioning system for spacing a butt of a firearm away from a chest of a user, the system comprising:
 a garment configured for being worn on a torso of the user, the garment having a pair of arm holes extending through the garment into an interior space bounded by the garment, the pair of arm holes being positioned opposite each other;   a pocket being coupled to the garment and being positioned on a front side of the garment nearer to an associated one of the pair of arm holes than another one of the pair of arm holes, the pocket being configured for being positioned over the chest of the user adjacent to an arm and a shoulder of the user; and   a plurality of pads, the plurality of pads being interchangeably positionable in the pocket, each pad of the plurality of pads having a rear surface which faces the front side of the garment when the pad is positioned in the pocket and a front surface which faces away from the garment when the pad is positioned in the pocket, each pad of the plurality of pads having a thickness between the front surface and the rear surface, the thickness of each pad of the plurality of pads being different from the thickness of each other pad of the plurality of pads, the plurality of pads being configured for facilitating adjustment of a distance between a trigger of the firearm and the chest of the user when the butt of the firearm is placed against the pocket with a selected pad of the plurality of pads positioned in the pocket.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket comprises:
 a front panel being spaced forwardly from the front side of the garment;   a bottom panel being coupled to and extending between the garment and the front panel, the bottom panel being positioned on a bottom edge of the front panel;   a pair of lateral panels being coupled to and extending between the garment and the front panel, each lateral panel of the pair of lateral panels being positioned on an associated lateral edge of a pair of lateral edges of the front panel; and   wherein the front panel, the bottom panel, the pair of lateral panels, and the garment define a cavity, a top edge of the pocket and the garment defining an opening to the cavity.   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the pocket further comprises a flap being coupled to the front side of the garment adjacent the top edge of the pocket, the flap being movable between a closed position and an open position with respect to the opening. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the pocket further comprises a connector being coupled to the flap and the front panel to releasably connect the flap to the front panel in the closed position, the connector comprising a first mating member being attached to the flap and a second mating member being attached to the front panel. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4 , wherein the connector comprises a hook-and-loop fastener.

         7 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the thickness of each pad of the plurality of pads is between 0.25 inches and 4.0 inches. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the thickness of each pad of the plurality of pads is constant between a top surface and a bottom surface of the pad and between a pair of lateral surfaces of the pad. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein each pad of the plurality of pads has a height between a top surface and a bottom surface of the pad of between 7.0 inches and 9.0 inches. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein each pad of the plurality of pads has a width between a pair of lateral surfaces of the pad of between 3.5 inches and 5.5 inches. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein each pad of the plurality of pads comprises a resiliently compressible material such that the pad is configured for absorbing a force from a recoiling of the firearm. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the resiliently compressible material comprises rubber. 
     
     
         13 . A firearm positioning system for spacing a butt of a firearm away from a chest of a user, the system comprising:
 a garment configured for being worn on a torso of the user, the garment having a pair of arm holes extending through the garment into an interior space bounded by the garment, the pair of arm holes being positioned opposite each other;   a pocket being coupled to the garment and being positioned on a front side of the garment nearer to an associated one of the pair of arm holes than another one of the pair of arm holes, the pocket being configured for being positioned over the chest of the user adjacent to an arm and a shoulder of the user, the pocket comprising:
 a front panel being spaced forwardly from the front side of the garment; 
 a bottom panel being coupled to and extending between the garment and the front panel, the bottom panel being positioned on a bottom edge of the front panel; 
 a pair of lateral panels being coupled to and extending between the garment and the front panel, each lateral panel of the pair of lateral panels being positioned on an associated lateral edge of a pair of lateral edges of the front panel; 
 wherein the front panel, the bottom panel, the pair of lateral panels, and the garment define a cavity, a top edge of the pocket and the garment defining an opening to the cavity; 
 a flap being coupled to the front side of the garment adjacent the top edge of the pocket, the flap being movable between a closed position and an open position with respect to the opening; and 
 a connector being coupled to the flap and the front panel to releasably connect the flap to the front panel in the closed position, the connector comprising a first mating member being attached to the flap and a second mating member being attached to the front panel, the connector comprising a hook-and-loop fastener; and 
 a plurality of pads being interchangeably positionable in the pocket, each pad of the plurality of pads having a rear surface which faces the front side of the garment when the pad is positioned in the pocket and a front surface which faces away from the garment when the pad is positioned in the pocket, each pad of the plurality of pads having a thickness between the front surface and the rear surface, the thickness of each pad of the plurality of pads being different from the thickness of each other pad of the plurality of pads, the plurality of pads being configured for facilitating adjustment of a distance between a trigger of the firearm and the chest of the user when the butt of the firearm is placed against the pocket with a selected pad of the plurality of pads positioned in the pocket, the thickness of each pad of the plurality of pads being between 0.25 inches and 4.0 inches, the thickness of each pad of the plurality of pads being constant between a top surface and a bottom surface of the pad and between a pair of lateral surfaces of the pad, each pad of the plurality of pads having a height between the top surface and the bottom surface of between 7.0 inches and 9.0 inches, each pad of the plurality of pads having a width between the pair of lateral surfaces of the pad of between 3.5 inches and 5.5 inches, each pad of the plurality of pads comprising a resiliently compressible material such that the pad is configured for absorbing a force from a recoiling of the firearm, the resiliently compressible material comprising rubber.
