Abstract

The patent application pertains to a method of detachably coupling a hair extension to a head covering. The method involves providing a first piece with an open end and a closed end, the closed end having a hair extension attachment coupled to a hair extension. A second piece is secured to the head covering, this piece having a substantially cylindrical core with a first end and a second end, with at least one radial extension extending from the first end and a base on the second end that attaches to the head covering. A spring is secured between the first piece and the second piece such that when the first end is accepted into the open end the spring biases the first piece away from the second piece. The closed end can have a loop and the hair extension can be coupled to the loop.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A hair extension mount that attaches to a head covering, the hair extension mount comprising:
 a first piece having an open end and a closed end wherein the closed end has a hair extension attachment; a second piece having a substantially cylindrical core with a first end and a second end, with at least one radial extension extending from the first end and a base on the second end configured to couple to the head covering; wherein the open end is configured to accept and encompass the radial extension on the first end; and at least one spring coupled to the first piece or the second piece such that when the first end is accepted into the open end the spring is situated between the first piece and the second piece to bias the first piece away from the second piece.

         2 . The hair extension mount according to claim 1 , wherein the first piece comprise an inner diameter on its open end wherein the inner diameter comprises at least one groove, and at least one locking groove.

         3 . The hair extension mount according to claim 1 , wherein second piece comprises a channel formed between the at least one radial extension and the base.

         4 . The hair extension mount according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one spring is coupled to the open end.

         5 . The hair extension mount according to claim 2 , wherein the at least one groove allows the at least one radial extension to enter into the first piece and lock within the at least one locking groove.

         6 . The hair extension mount according to claim 1 , wherein the first piece and the second piece is manufactured from plastic, metal, or carbon.

         7 . The hair extension mount according to claim 1 , wherein the second end couples to the head covering via an adhesive, hook and loop material, or a fastener.

         8 . The hair extension mount according to claim 1 , wherein the head covering is a motorcycle helmet, a bicycle helmet, or a ski helmet.

         9 . The hair extension mount according to claim 1 , wherein the closed end has a loop configured to couple to at least one hair extension.

         10 . The hair extension mount according to claim 9 , wherein the loop is a d-loop, ring, or split steel ring wherein the at least one hair extension is attached to a D-ring having a straight section and wherein the straight section of the D-ring passes through the mount hole.

         11 . A method of detachably coupling a hair extension to a head covering, the method comprising the acts of:
 providing a first piece having an open end and a closed end wherein the closed end has a hair extension attachment coupled to a hair extension; securing a second piece to the head covering, the second piece having a substantially cylindrical core with a first end and a second end, with at least one radial extension extending from the first end and a base on the second end that attaches to the head covering, wherein the open end is configured to accept and encompass the radial extension on the first end; securing a spring between the first piece and the second piece such that when the first end is accepted into the open end the spring biases the first piece away from the second piece.

         12 . The method according to  claim 11 , wherein the first piece comprises an inner diameter on its open end wherein the inner diameter comprises at least one groove and at lease one locking groove;
 aligning the at least one radial extension with the at least one groove to allow the second piece to enter the open end of the first piece; rotating the first piece relative to the second piece to align the at least one radial extension with the at least one locking groove; inserting the at least one radial extension into the at least one locking groove to secure the first piece to the second piece.

         13 . The method according to  claim 12 , wherein the at least one radial extension is a first tab and a second tab and wherein the at least one groove is a first groove and a second groove and the at least one locking groove is a first locking groove and a second locking groove;
 aligning the first tab with the first groove and the second tab with the second groove to allow the second piece to enter the open end of the first piece; rotating the first piece relative to the second piece to align the first tab with the first locking groove and the second tab with the second locking groove; inserting the first tab into the first locking groove and the second tab into the second locking groove.

         14 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the at least one spring is secured to the open end of the first piece.

         15 . The method according to claim 11 further comprising manufacturing the first piece and the second piece from plastic, metal, or carbon.

         16 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the base is attached to the head covering via an adhesive, hook and loop material, or a fastener.

         17 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the head covering is a motorcycle helmet, a bicycle helmet, or a ski helmet.

         18 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the closed end has a loop and further comprising coupling the hair extension to the loop.

         19 . The method according to claim 18 , wherein the loop is a d-loop, ring, or split steel ring and further comprising attaching the hair extension to a D-ring having a straight section and threading the straight section of the D-ring through the loop.
