Method to reproduce graphics and designs on transparent polycarbonate bodyshells commonly used in toy automobiles.

Abstract

Scale models of cars by vendors in the toy and hobby industry are often produced from a transparent plastic material, such as polycarbonate, Lexan™, or Makrolon®. Graphic designers and commercial artists can leverage the transparent nature of this material to produce graphics or art to display through the transparency. This method can also be useful for a variety of commercial purposes, including reproducing commercial logos or other artworks commonly found in applications such as team liveries, company logos and the like.

1 . This is a novel method to reproduce graphics and designs on transparent polycarbonate bodyshells commonly used in toy automobiles by:
 1. Creating a reversed image of desired graphic   2. Applying reversed image on underside of transparent medium, such as Lexan™ or Makrolon®   3. Producing reversed image on underside of medium to display in proper orientation when viewed from the topside of medium
