Pool cover retention device

Abstract

A pool cover retaining system for above-ground and/or semi-above ground pools including a self-contracting retaining band. The self-contracting retaining band is configured to be fitted around a pool wall. The system includes a first rod having a first rod length. The first rod is configured for use with a pool cover to be fitted over a pool. The pool has a pool perimeter length. The first rod length is less than the pool perimeter length.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A pool cover retaining system for above-ground and/or semi-above ground pools, the system comprising:
 (a) a self-contracting retaining band, wherein the self-contracting retaining band is configured to be fitted around a pool wall; and   (b) a first rod comprising a first rod length, wherein the first rod is configured for use with a pool cover to be fitted over a pool, and wherein the pool comprises a pool perimeter length, and wherein the first rod length is less than the pool perimeter length.   
     
     
         2 . The pool cover retaining system of  claim 1 , wherein the wherein the self-contracting retaining band comprises an elastic material. 
     
     
         3 . The pool cover retaining system of  claim 2 , further comprising a pool cover, and wherein the self-contracting retaining band is attachable to the pool cover. 
     
     
         4 . The pool cover retaining system of  claim 1 , further comprising a second rod comprising a second rod first end and a second rod second end, and
 wherein the first rod comprises a first rod first end and a first rod second end, and   wherein the first rod first end is connectable to the second rod second end to form a rod assembly.   
     
     
         5 . The pool cover retaining system of  claim 4 , further comprising an end connector disposed between the first rod first end and the second rod second end. 
     
     
         6 . The pool cover retaining system of  claim 4 , wherein the rod assembly can be used with a pool cover disposed on a pool comprising a pool shape, and wherein the rod assembly comprises a rod assembly shape that is substantially the same shape as the pool shape. 
     
     
         7 . A pool cover retaining device, comprising a self-contracting retaining band, wherein the self-contracting retaining band is configured to be fitted around a wall of an above-ground and/or semi-above ground pool. 
     
     
         8 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 7 , wherein the self-contracting retaining band comprises an elastic material. 
     
     
         9 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 7 , further comprising a pool cover, and wherein the self-contracting retaining band is attachable to the pool cover. 
     
     
         10 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 9 , wherein the pool cover comprises a material, and wherein the self-contracting retaining band is sewable into the material of the pool cover. 
     
     
         11 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 10 , wherein the pool cover comprises:
 (a) a tarp;   (b) a net; or   (c) both a tarp and a net.   
     
     
         12 . A pool cover retaining device, comprising a first rod comprising a first rod length, wherein the first rod is configured for use with a pool cover to be fitted over an above-ground and/or semi-above ground pool, and wherein the pool comprises a pool perimeter length, and wherein the first rod length is less than the pool perimeter length. 
     
     
         13 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 12 , wherein the first rod comprises a circular shape. 
     
     
         14 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 12 , wherein the first rod comprises a semi-circular shape. 
     
     
         15 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 12 , further comprising a second rod comprising a second rod first end and a second rod second end, and
 wherein the first rod comprises a first rod first end and a first rod second end, and   wherein the first rod first end is connectable to the second rod second end to form a rod assembly.   
     
     
         16 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 15 , further comprising an end connector disposed between the first rod first end and the second rod second end. 
     
     
         17 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 16 , wherein the first rod and the second rod of the rod assembly each comprise a flexible material. 
     
     
         18 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 17 , wherein the rod assembly comprises a substantially circular shape. 
     
     
         19 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 17 , wherein the rod assembly comprises a substantially semi-circular shape. 
     
     
         20 . The pool cover retaining device of  claim 17 , wherein the rod assembly comprises an adjustable length.
