Adjustable lid for covering a glass or cup

Abstract

A device comprising an adjustable lid for covering a glass or cup that covers the top of the glass or cup and prevents substances from being placed in the glass or cup.

1 . A device that serves as a lid that attaches to a cup or glass comprising:
 a lid having an opening;   a bottom part of said lid that attached to top of said cup or glass;   said bottom part of said lid having an adhesive on it;   said lid being a separate piece from said cup or glass.   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said opening is made larger or smaller by applying forces to said lid. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said bottom part of said lid has double sided tape attached to it which when pulled away from said lid leaves an adhesive on the bottom part of said lid allowing said lid to become attached to said cup or glass. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 3  wherein said cup or glass has said lid sealed to it. 
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said device is comprised of two separate pieces comprising a top half and a bottom half of said lid held together at a pivot point so that said top half of said lid pivots with respect to said bottom half of said lid so that size of opening changes. 
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said lid is adjustable so that said lid fits different size cups or glasses. 
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said lid is attached to outside of said glass or cup. 
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said lid is attached to inside of said glass or cup. 
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said lid is approximately 84 mm wide by 85.5 mm long. 
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said top half of said lid is in shape of a semi circle that attaches to said bottom half of said lid at said pivot point. 
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said indentation is approximately 28 mm wide at its largest opening, providing ample amounts of consumption space while still covering majority of said cup or glass. 
     
     
         12 . The device of  claim 11  wherein said opening is large enough for a straw to pass through the lid. 
     
     
         13 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said bottom of said lid comprises a circular shape that features a v-shaped cut-out that allows said lid to expand to fit said cup or glass. 
     
     
         14 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said lid prevents substances from being placed into said cup or glass when said lid is securely fastened to said cup or glass. 
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 1  further comprising indicia on top of said lid facing outside of said glass or cup so user can confirm said attached lid is on said glass that he or she was drinking from. 
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 15  wherein said indicia is specific to said user. 
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 15  wherein an establishment provides lids having unique indicia to each person who walks into said establishment so said lid having said unique indicia is placed on said cup or glass recognized by said user only. 
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 5  wherein said top half of said lid is on a higher plane then said bottom half of said lid.
