Abstract
An outboard motor includes an electric motor including an output shaft extending in an upper-lower direction, a gearing connected to the output shaft of the electric motor and including gears to rotate around a rotation shafts extending in the upper-lower direction, and a housing chamber to accommodate the gearing and oil. The housing chamber includes a peripheral wall extending around one of the gears. The peripheral wall includes a sloped portion between the one gear and the peripheral wall that is inclined upward along a rotating direction of the gear.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An outboard motor comprising:
an electric motor including an output shaft extending in an upper-lower direction; a gearing connected to the output shaft of the electric motor and including a plurality of gears to rotate around a plurality of rotation shafts extending in the upper-lower direction; and a housing chamber to accommodate the gearing and oil; wherein the housing chamber includes a peripheral wall extending along one gear of the plurality of gears; and the peripheral wall includes a sloped portion between the one gear and the peripheral that is inclined upward along a rotating direction of the one gear.
2 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein an inner peripheral surface of the peripheral wall is arc-shaped along the rotating direction of the one gear when viewed in the upper-lower direction.
3 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein the sloped portion is spaced apart from the one gear in a radial direction of the one gear.
4 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein the sloped portion extends along and is in contact with an inner peripheral surface of the peripheral wall.
5 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein the sloped portion has an inclination angle of about 45 degrees or less with respect to a horizontal direction.
6 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein a lower end of the sloped portion faces a bottom surface of the housing chamber.
7 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein
the gearing includes another gear to mesh with the one gear; and the sloped portion is located on a side of the one gear opposite to the other gear.
8 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein the housing chamber includes a reverse direction sloped portion between the one gear and the peripheral wall, and is inclined upward along the rotating direction of the one gear.
9 . The outboard motor according to claim 8 , wherein the sloped portion and the reverse direction sloped portion are located at different positions on a virtual circle centered around the one gear.
10 . The outboard motor according to claim 9 , wherein a highest end of the sloped portion and a highest end of the reverse direction sloped portion are adjacent to each other.
11 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a bearing to support an upper end of the rotation shaft connected to the one gear; and a guide to guide the oil lifted by the sloped portion to the bearing.
12 . The outboard motor according to claim 1 , wherein the gearing includes a reduction gearing connected to the output shaft of the electric motor and includes an input gear to mesh with the gear.
13 . The outboard motor according to claim 12 , further comprising:
a bearing to support an upper end of the rotation shaft connected to the one gear; and a guide to guide the oil lifted by the sloped portion to the bearing; wherein a position at which the one gear meshes with the input gear is located on an outer circumference side of than the bearing when viewed in the upper-lower direction.
14 . A boat comprising:
a hull; and the outboard motor according to claim 1 mounted to a rear portion of the hull.
15 . An outboard motor comprising:
a drive source; a transmission to transmit power from the drive source and including a rotor to rotate around a rotation shaft extending in an upper-lower direction; and a case including a housing chamber to accommodate the transmission and oil; wherein the housing chamber includes a peripheral wall extending along the rotor; and the peripheral wall includes a sloped portion between the rotor and the peripheral wall that is inclined upward along a rotating direction of the rotor.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
