Abstract

Present invention teaches a simple and effective folding and locking mechanism for furniture where a core rod can be fitted into a notch groove on a bracket and be locked in place, to keep the leg structure stably and securely set. When the furniture is to be collapsed down for easy storage, a pressure is applied to the push tab of an L-rod on the bracket, releasing the core rod from the notch groove, and the two bars will pull the core rod away, allowing the leg structure to be folded down.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . Furniture folding and locking mechanism, comprising:
a core rod; two bars with one end of each bar connecting to said core rod; a leg structure having a support beam hingeably connected to said two bars; a main plane of a furniture piece having a hingeable connection with said leg structure; a bracket having a notch groove for receiving said core rod; a support piece for connecting said bracket to said main plane of a furniture piece; and an L-rod pivotably residing in said bracket, further having a push tab on one end and a lock tab on another end, wherein said L-rod serves as the control mechanism of said bracket to lock the leg structure in place or to fold the leg structure down towards the main plane of the furniture piece where the lock tab serves to keep core rod in the notch groove and, when pressure is applied to said push tab, said core rod will be released from said notch groove, allowing said two bars to pull said core rod away from said bracket, and the leg structure to be hingeably pivoted and folded towards said main plane of the furniture piece.

2 . The furniture folding and locking mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the bracket has a spring inside to provide an actuating power to keep said push tab in a closed position until pushed when the core rod needs to come into the notch groove or be released from the notch groove.

3 . The furniture folding and locking mechanism of claim 1 , wherein said lock tab has a sliding curvy line on the contacting side with said core rod so that when the core rod is pushed towards the notch groove, the curvy line allows the core rod to slide in, gently nudging open a small gap until the core rod fits completely inside said notch groove, with the spring pushing the lock tab back in and lock the core rod in the notch groove.
