Abstract

The Shield Raincoat for Persons with Scoliosis and/or Other Spinal Conditions is designed to solve the problem of painful garments for people with scoliosis and/or back pain. Since scoliosis contributes to asymmetry in the body, most garments do not have added features for mobility that suit persons with scoliosis or back pain. The combination of elements including a four-piece gusset, paneled and large raglan sleeves, inverted and sewn box pleats with facings at the upper back and front hip levels, princess seams, panelling at the back, and a hood constructed with panels and extra width/length, help to give full mobility for a person with scoliosis or other spinal conditions.
