Abstract

Cuff assemblies for sports board leashes, where the cuff assembly includes a central section that having a precurved molded insert that is configured to connect to a cord of the sports board leash, a first wing attached to a first side of the central section, and a second wing attached to a second side of the central section. The maximum width of the central section of the cuff assembly is greater than the maximum width of either of the first wing or second wing, and the first wing and second wing are configured to overlap and fasten to each other in order to secure the cuff assembly around a person's limb portion.

21 . A sports board fastening device for attaching a sports board to a sports board leash, comprising:
a rail saver including a strap segment having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion, the proximal end portion of the strap segment being attached to the sports board leash, and a rail-saver sleeve configured to cover the rail saver.

22 . The sports board fastening device of claim 21 , wherein:
the strap segment has an open configuration and a closed configuration; in the open configuration the strap segment is unfolded and the distal end portion is free; and in the closed configuration the strap segment is folded over and the distal end portion is secured to the proximal end portion.

23 . The sports board fastening device of claim 22 , wherein, in the closed configuration, the distal end portion of the strap segment is secured to the proximal end portion by a hook-and-loop fastener.

24 . The sports board fastening device of claim 22 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve is attached to and encloses the proximal end portion of the strap segment.

25 . The sports board fastening device of claim 24 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve has a fixed end and an open end, and is attached to the proximal end portion of the strap segment at the fixed end.

26 . The sports board fastening device of claim 25 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve extends over and substantially encloses the strap segment when the strap segment is in the closed configuration, and the rail-saver sleeve is compressed to expose the rail saver when the strap segment is in the open configuration.

27 . The sports board fastening device of claim 22 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve includes one or more drain holes.

28 . The sports board fastening device of claim 22 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve includes a stretch woven fabric.

29 . The sports board fastening device of claim 22 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve has a length that is approximately the same as a length of the strap segment in the closed configuration.

30 . The sports board fastening device of claim 22 , wherein:
the sports board leash includes a cuff assembly configured to be coupled to a person's limb, and a cord; the cuff assembly is connected to a first end portion of the cord; and the proximal end portion of the strap segment is attached to a second end portion of the cord.

31 . The sports board fastening device of claim 22 , wherein the strap segment is configured to retain a cord loop fastened to a leash plug on a sports board.

         32 . A sports board assembly, comprising:
a sports board; a cord loop fastened to a leash plug on the sports board; a cuff assembly configured to be coupled to a person's limb; a rail saver including a strap segment having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion, the strap segment being configured to retain the cord loop; a rail-saver sleeve configured to cover the rail saver; and a cord having a first end portion connected to the cuff assembly, and a second end portion attached to the proximal end portion of the strap segment of the rail saver.

33 . The sports board assembly of claim 32 , wherein:
the strap segment has an open configuration and a closed configuration; in the open configuration the strap segment is unfolded and the distal end portion is free; and in the closed configuration the strap segment is folded over and the distal end portion is secured to the proximal end portion.

34 . The sports board assembly of claim 33 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve is attached to and encloses the proximal end portion of the strap segment.

35 . The sports board assembly of claim 34 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve has a fixed end and an open end, and is attached to the proximal end portion of the strap segment at the fixed end.

36 . The sports board assembly of claim 35 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve extends over and substantially encloses the strap segment when the strap segment is in the closed configuration, and the rail-saver sleeve is compressed to expose the rail saver when the strap segment is in the open configuration.

37 . The sports board assembly of claim 32 , wherein the cord loop does not include a knot.

         38 . A method of coupling a sports board to a person's limb, comprising:
securing a cuff assembly attached to a first end portion of a cord around a person's limb; unfolding a strap segment of a rail saver, the strap segment having a proximal end attached to a second end portion of the cord; threading a distal end portion of the strap segment through a cord loop; folding the strap segment to secure the distal end to a proximal end portion of the strap segment, and thereby retain the cord loop with the rail saver; enclosing the folded strap segment in a rail-saver sleeve; and fastening the cord loop to a leash plug on a sports board.

39 . The method of claim 38 , wherein the rail-saver sleeve has a fixed end and an open end, and is attached to the proximal end portion of the strap segment at the fixed end.

40 . The method of claim 39 , further including compressing the rail-saver sleeve around the proximal end portion of the strap segment, and unfolding the strap segment to release the cord loop.
