Hood with face mask

Abstract

A hooded garment including a tether that enables the hood to be secured in place in a mask configuration with a breathable filtration material disposed over the nose and mouth area of a wearer's face and secured in place with a tether attached to the car of the wearer.

1 . A garment configured for use alternatively as a hood and a mask for covering a nose and mouth of a wearer's face, comprising:
 a hood including a hood portion having a crown portion;   a mask portion of the hood portion including a pocket, the pocket comprising an inner layer and an outer layer with a pocket area disposed therebetween;   a breathable filtration material disposed within the pocket area of the pocket;
 wherein:
 in a mask configuration, the hood is configured to be wrapped around a first side of a wearer's face across the nose and mouth area of the wearer's face and over a second side of the wearer's face, with a tether secured to an ear of the wearer; and 
 in a hood position, the crown portion of the hood is configured to be disposed over an upper portion of a head of the wearer. 
 
   
     
     
         2 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein in the mask configuration, the crown portion of the hood is configured to be disposed over the nose and mouth of the wearer. 
     
     
         3 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the mask portion, including the pocket and the breathable filtration material, is configured to be disposed over the nose and the mouth of the wearer in the mask configuration. 
     
     
         4 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the pocket includes a closeable and openable interface for opening and closing the pocket such that the breathable filtration material can be installed and removed from within the pocket. 
     
     
         5 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the mask portion is aligned along a crown seam between a first panel and a second panel of the hood portion and the mask portion extends from an edge of the hood to an apex of the hood. 
     
     
         6 . The garment of  claim 5 , wherein the mask portion is disposed within the crown portion of the hood. 
     
     
         7 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the tether includes a spring toggle configured for adjusting a length of the tether and thereby adjusting a tightness of the hood in the mask configuration. 
     
     
         8 . The garment of  claim 1 , wherein the hood includes an inner layer of material and an outer layer of material and the inner layer of material is in contact with the wearer's face in the mask configuration. 
     
     
         9 . The garment of  claim 8 , wherein the pocket is formed by the inner layer and the outer layer of the hood. 
     
     
         10 . The garment of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a fold-out transparent eye shield coupled with the rim of the hood;   a bridge pocket; or   a bridge member.

         26 . A garment configured for use alternatively as a hood and a mask for covering a nose and mouth of a wearer's face, comprising:
 a hood including a hood portion having a crown portion;   a mask portion positioned on the crown portion;   wherein:
 in a mask configuration, the hood is configured to be wrapped around a first side of a wearer's face across the nose and mouth area of the wearer's face and over a second side of the wearer's face, with a tether secured to an ear of the wearer; and 
 in a hood position, the crown portion of the hood is configured to be disposed over an upper portion of a head of the wearer. 
   
     
     
         27 . The garment of  claim 26 , wherein, in the mask configuration, the crown portion of the hood is configured to be disposed over the nose and mouth of the wearer. 
     
     
         28 . The garment of  claim 26 , wherein the mask portion, including the pocket and the breathable filtration material, is disposed over the nose and the mouth of the wearer in the mask configuration. 
     
     
         29 . The garment of  claim 26 , wherein the pocket includes a closeable and openable interface for opening and closing the pocket such that the breathable filtration material can be installed and removed from within the pocket. 
     
     
         30 . The garment of  claim 26 , wherein the mask portion is aligned along a crown seam between a first panel and a second panel of the hood portion and the mask portion extends from an edge of the hood to an apex of the hood. 
     
     
         31 . The garment of  claim 26 , wherein the tether includes a spring toggle configured for adjusting a length of the tether and thereby adjusting a tightness of the hood in the mask configuration. 
     
     
         32 . The garment of  claim 26 , wherein the hood includes an inner layer of material and an outer layer of material and the inner layer of material is in contact with the wearer's face in the mask configuration. 
     
     
         33 . The garment of  claim 26 , wherein the mask portion comprises a pocket, the pocket comprising an inner layer and an outer layer with a pocket area disposed therebetween. 
     
     
         34 . The garment of  claim 33 , further comprising a breathable filtration material disposed within the pocket area of the pocket. 
     
     
         35 . The garment of  claim 34 , wherein the pocket is formed by an inner layer and an outer layer of the hood.
