Abstract

The Mauj Pleated Dress is designed to solve the problem of painful garments for people with scoliosis and/or back pain. Since scoliosis contributes to asymmetry in the body, most garments do not have added features for mobility that suit persons with scoliosis or back pain. The combination of elements including two-piece gussets at the armpits, a raglan-cut neckline, lightweight and adjustable shoulder straps, a racerback with scooped out sides, princess seams and four specialized inverted box pleats with facings at the hip level help to give full mobility for a person with scoliosis or other spinal conditions.

1 . A dress comprising: A bodice made with underarm gussets on each side; wherein they begin at the armhole and terminate at the waist; while a deep cut racer back is at the back of the bodice; wherein thin, adjustable straps originate and connect with the front bodice for mobility; while utilizing princess seams and additional seaming around the body of the garment; wherein inverted box pleats with facings are built into the seams from the waist of the skirt; while using lightweight material; to help a person with spinal conditions to wear with comfort and give a full range of mobility without pain.
