Bed sheet system

Abstract

A bed sheet system includes a fitted sheet and a top sheet. The fitted sheet is operable for attachment onto a mattress. The top sheet is operable for placement over the fitted sheet and over the mattress. A distal end of the top sheet is secured to a distal end of the fitted sheet along first and second secured regions. The first and second secured regions are separated by an unsecured region. The distal end of the top sheet is unsecured from the distal end of the fitted sheet along the unsecured region.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A bed sheet system comprising:
 a fitted sheet operable for attachment onto a mattress; and   a top sheet operable for placement (i) over the fitted sheet and (ii) over the mattress, wherein (a) a distal end of the top sheet is secured to a distal end of the fitted sheet along first and second secured regions, (b) the first and second secured regions are separated by an unsecured region, and (c) the distal end of the top sheet is unsecured from the distal end of the fitted sheet along the unsecured region.   
     
     
         2 . The bed sheet system of  claim 1 , wherein the first and second secured regions are interleaved with the unsecured region. 
     
     
         3 . The bed sheet system of  claim 1 , wherein (i) the top sheet defines a vent opening along the unsecured region and (ii) the vent opening is operable to vent air from spaces defined between the fitted sheet and top sheet. 
     
     
         4 . The bed sheet system of  claim 3 , wherein the vent opening defined along the unsecured region is aligned with the first and second secured regions along an axis. 
     
     
         5 . The bed sheet system of  claim 1 , wherein distal corners of the top sheet define cutouts operable to expose distal corners of the fitted sheet. 
     
     
         6 . The bed sheet system of  claim 5 , wherein the cutouts defined along the distal corners of the top sheet are triangular. 
     
     
         7 . The bed sheet system of  claim 1 , wherein the distal end of the top sheet is secured to the distal end of the fitted sheet along the first and second secured regions via stitching. 
     
     
         8 . A bed sheeting comprising:
 a first sheet (i) having elastic regions and (ii) configured to conform to a shape of a mattress; and   a second sheet (i) disposed over the first sheet and (ii) affixed to the first sheet along spaced-apart regions, wherein the spaced-apart regions are aligned along an axis.   
     
     
         9 . The bed sheeting of  claim 8 , wherein (i) the spaced-apart regions are interleaved with secondary regions, (ii) the secondary regions are along the axis, and (iii) the first sheet and second sheet are unattached along the secondary regions. 
     
     
         10 . The bed sheeting of  claim 9 , wherein (i) the second sheet defines openings along the secondary regions, and (ii) the openings are operable to vent air from spaces defined between the first sheet and second sheet. 
     
     
         11 . The bed sheeting of  claim 10 , wherein the openings defined along the secondary regions are aligned along the axis. 
     
     
         12 . The bed sheeting of  claim 8 , wherein (i) corners of the second sheet define cutouts operable to expose corners of the first sheet, (ii) the cutouts of the second sheet extend radially away from the axis, and (iii) the cutouts are adjacent to the axis. 
     
     
         13 . The bed sheeting of  claim 12 , wherein the cutouts defined along the corners of the second sheet are triangular. 
     
     
         14 . The bed sheeting of  claim 8 , wherein the second sheet is affixed to the first sheet along the spaced-apart regions via stitching. 
     
     
         15 . A bedding set comprising:
 a primary sheet (i) having a first plurality of outer regions and (ii) configured to engage a mattress; and   a secondary sheet (i) having a second plurality of outer regions and (ii) configured for placement over the primary sheet, wherein (a) a first region of the first plurality of outer regions is secured to a first region of the second plurality of outer regions along spaced-apart attached regions, (b) the first region of the first plurality of outer regions is unsecured to the first region of the second plurality of outer regions along unattached regions, and (c) the attached regions are interleaved with the unattached regions.   
     
     
         16 . The bedding set of  claim 15 , wherein (i) the secondary sheet defines openings along the unattached regions and (ii) the openings are operable to vent air from spaces defined between the primary sheet and secondary sheet. 
     
     
         17 . The bedding set of  claim 16 , wherein the openings defined along the unattached regions are aligned with the spaced-apart attached regions along an axis. 
     
     
         18 . The bedding set of  claim 15 , wherein (i) corners of the secondary sheet define cutouts operable to expose corners of the primary sheet and (ii) the cutouts of the secondary sheet extend from and are adjacent to the first region of the first plurality of outer regions of the primary sheet. 
     
     
         19 . The bedding set of  claim 18 , wherein the cutouts defined along the corners of the secondary sheet are triangular. 
     
     
         20 . The bedding set of  claim 15 , wherein the first region of the first plurality of outer regions is secured to the first region of the second plurality of outer regions along the spaced-apart attached regions via stitching.
