Abstract
A playing implement for a paddle includes a surface plate having an inner side and an outer side, wherein the surface plate includes at least one layer of material having a textured surface on the outer side, the surface plate being configured to be removably attached to the paddle using at least one of a differential adhesive or a pressure sensitive adhesive. The differential adhesive or the pressure sensitive adhesive is on the inner side of the surface plate, and the outer side defines a playing surface and opposes the inner side.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A playing implement for a paddle comprising:
a surface plate having an inner side and an outer side, wherein the surface plate is comprised of at least one layer of material having a textured surface on the outer side; and at least one of a differential adhesive or a pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on the inner side of the surface plate, the at least one differential adhesive or pressure sensitive adhesive configured to removably attach the surface plate to the paddle, wherein the outer side of the surface plate comprises a playing surface, and the outer side opposes the inner side.
2 . The playing implement of claim 1 , wherein the surface plate further comprises a tab.
3 . The playing implement of claim 2 , wherein the tab does not include any adhesive.
4 . The playing implement of claim 2 , wherein the tab is disposed at a lower end portion of the surface plate.
5 . The playing implement of claim 1 , wherein the at least one layer of material is comprised of at least one of carbon fiber, graphite, fiberglass, Kevlar, and composite material.
6 . The playing implement of claim 1 , wherein the at least one layer of material comprises layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymers.
7 . The playing implement of claim 6 , wherein the layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymers are unidirectional.
8 . The playing implement of claim 6 , wherein the layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymers are woven.
9 . The playing implement of claim 1 , wherein the at least one layer of material has a textured surface on the outer side.
10 . The playing implement of claim 9 , wherein the at least one layer of material comprises layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymers.
11 . The playing implement of claim 10 , wherein the textured surface is created by a peel-ply film.
12 . A paddle comprising:
a core portion; a handle connected to the core portion; a surface plate having an inner side and an outer side, wherein the surface plate is comprised of at least one layer of material having a textured surface on the outer side; and at least one of a differential adhesive or a pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on the inner side of the surface plate, the at least one differential adhesive or pressure sensitive adhesive configured to removably attach the surface plate to the paddle, wherein the outer side of the surface plate comprises a playing surface, and the outer side opposes the inner side.
13 . The paddle according to claim 12 , wherein the surface plate further comprises a tab.
14 . The paddle of claim 13 , wherein the tab does not include any adhesive.
15 . The paddle of claim 13 , wherein the tab is disposed at a lower end portion of the surface plate.
16 . The paddle of claim 12 , wherein the at least one layer of material is comprised of at least one of carbon fiber, graphite, fiberglass, and composite material.
17 . The paddle of claim 12 , wherein the at least one layer of material comprises layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymers.
18 . The paddle of claim 17 , wherein the layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymers are unidirectional.
19 . The paddle of claim 17 , wherein the layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymers are woven.
20 . The paddle of claim 12 , wherein the textured surface is created with a peel-ply film.
21 . The paddle of claim 12 , wherein the at least one differential adhesive or pressure sensitive adhesive is configured to removably attach the surface plate to the core portion of the paddle.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
