Aerosol Generating Device Comprising Two Heating Elements
Abstract
An aerosol generating device configured to operate with an aerosol generating substrate includes: a device body extending along a device axis; a cup-shaped heating chamber defining an open end and at least two heating walls, the heating chamber being configured to receive a heater part of the aerosol generating substrate through the open end; two heating elements, each heating element being adjacent to a respective heating wall of the heating chamber; and a controller configured to operate separately each heating element with the same aerosol generating substrate, according to a heating profile chosen among a predetermined group of heating profiles.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An aerosol generating device configured to operate with an aerosol generating substrate with a heater part and comprising:
a device body extending along a device axis; a cup-shaped heating chamber defining an open end and at least first and second heating walls arranged opposite and in parallel one to another, the cup-shaped heating chamber configured to receive the heater part of the aerosol generating substrate through the open end; first and second heating elements, each of the first and second heating elements being adjacent and parallel to a respective one of the at least first and second heating wall of the heating chamber; and a controller configured to operate separately each of the first and second heating elements with the same aerosol generating substrate, according to a heating profile chosen among a predetermined group of heating profiles.
2 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 1 , wherein said group of heating profiles comprises at least:
a first heating profile comprising activation of both of the first and second heating elements until reaching a first target temperature; and a second heating profile comprising activation of one of the first and second heating elements until reaching a second target temperature.
3 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 2 , wherein the controller is configured to choose the first heating profile during a pre-heating mode of operation of the device and the second heating profile during a floating mode of operation of the device.
4 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 2 , wherein the first target temperature and the second target temperature are equal to a same value, said value being between 230° C. and 350° C.
5 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 2 , wherein the controller is further configured to operate, after having carried out the second heating profile, according to at least one heating profile chosen in the group comprising at least:
a third heating profile comprising activation of the one of the first and second heating elements used in the second heating profile to achieve a third target temperature which is higher than the second target temperature; a fourth heating profile comprising deactivation of the one of the first and second heating elements used in the second heating profile, and activation of the other of the first and second heating elements; and a fifth heating profile comprising activation of the first and second heating elements; and a sixth heating profile comprising deactivation of each of the first and second heating elements.
6 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the heating chamber extends along the device axis and defines a rectangular cross-sectional shape having a first pair of first and second walls facing each other and forming first and second chamber lateral walls, respectively, and a second pair of third and fourth walls facing each other and forming said first and second heating walls.
7 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second heating walls is rigidly fixed to each of the first and second chamber lateral wall so as to define the rectangular cross-sectional shape.
8 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second heating walls is at least 3 times wider than each of the first and second chamber lateral walls.
9 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second heating walls defines a contact surface configured to be in a tight contact with an external surface of the aerosol generating substrate when the aerosol generating substrate is inserted into the heating chamber.
10 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 9 , wherein each of the first and second heating elements is attached to an outer surface of the corresponding one of the first and second heating walls, opposite to the contact surface of the corresponding one of the first and second heating walls.
11 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second chamber lateral walls is configured to be spaced out from an external surface of the aerosol generating substrate when the aerosol generating substrate is inserted into the heating chamber.
12 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the heating chamber is configured to compress the heater part of the aerosol generating substrate when the heater part is received in the heating chamber.
13 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second heating elements is attached to an outer surface of the heating chamber.
14 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second heating elements is a polyimide film heater.
15 . The aerosol generating device according to claim 1 , further comprising an insulator arranged between an outer surface of the heating chamber and an inner surface of the device body.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
