Abstract

An aerosol generation device, configured to operate with a replaceable article having a storage compartment, includes a receptacle extending along a receptacle axis, defining a receptacle internal surface and configured to receive the replaceable article, a heating system configured to heat the replaceable article when it is received in the receptacle, wherein the receptacle internal surface includes at least one protrusion protruding from the receptacle internal surface and configured to compress a part of the airflow path of the storage compartment to reduce its cross-sectional area, when the replaceable article is received in the receptacle, the or each protrusion defining a protrusion surface adjacent to the receptacle internal surface and forming an angle with the receptacle internal surface greater than 100° along the entire protrusion in an airflow direction.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An aerosol generation device configured to operate with a replaceable article comprising a storage compartment containing a vaporizable material, the storage compartment defining an airflow path extending between an air inlet and an air outlet through the vaporizable material;
 the aerosol generation device comprising:
 a receptacle extending along a receptacle axis, defining a receptacle internal surface and configured to receive the replaceable article in a space delimited by the receptacle internal surface such that the airflow path extends along the receptacle axis;
 a heating system configured to heat the replaceable article when the replaceable article is received in the receptacle;
   wherein the receptacle internal surface comprises at least one protrusion protruding from the receptacle internal surface and configured to reduce a cross-sectional area of the receptacle so as to compress a part of the airflow path of the storage compartment, when the replaceable article is received in the receptacle; each of the at least one protrusion defining a protrusion surface adjacent to the receptacle internal surface and forming an angle with the receptacle internal surface greater than 100° along the entire protrusion in an airflow direction.

         2 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 1 , wherein a maximum height of each of the at least one protrusion measured according to an axis perpendicular to the receptacle axis is between 2% and 15% of a diameter of the receptacle.

         3 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 1 , wherein a maximum length of each of the at least one protrusion measured according to the receptacle axis is between 5% and 75% of a length of the receptacle measured according to the receptacle axis.

         4 . The aerosol generation device according to  claim 1 , wherein each of the at least one protrusion forms an ascending portion, a top portion and a descending portion;
 the ascending portion extends from the receptacle internal surface until the top portion and the descending portion extends from the top portion until the receptacle internal surface.

         5 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 4 , wherein the ascending portion is symmetric to the descending portion with respect to the top portion.

         6 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 4 , wherein the ascending portion defines transversal dimensions increasing from the receptacle internal surface until the top portion, and/or the descending portion defines transversal dimensions decreasing from the top portion until the receptacle internal surface.

         7 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 1 , wherein a shape of the or each of the at least one protrusion is at least one of:
 chevron; arrowhead; asymmetric fillet and chamfer; symmetric fillet; asymmetric fillet; symmetric chamfer; or asymmetric chamfer.

         8 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one protrusion comprises a plurality of protrusions arranged on the receptacle internal surface axially according to the receptacle axis and/or circumferentially.

         9 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 1 , wherein each of the at least one protrusion is arranged to be adjacent to the air outlet of the storage compartment, when the replaceable article is received in the receptacle.

         10 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 1 , wherein each of the at least one protrusion is moveable according to the receptacle axis.

         11 . The aerosol generation device according to  claim 1 , wherein each of the at least one protrusion is moveable according to an axis perpendicular to the receptacle axis between an engaged position and a disengaged position;
 wherein, when the replaceable article is received in the receptacle, the replaceable article being freely moveable within the receptacle according to the receptacle axis when each of the at least one protrusion is in the disengaged position and being locked in the receptacle when each of the at least one protrusion is in the engaged position.

         12 . The aerosol generation set according to claim  15 , wherein the heating system is an inductive heating system comprising a coil configured to create a magnetic field, the storage compartment of the replaceable article comprising at least one susceptor extending along the airflow path between an upstream end and a downstream end, and configured to generate heat when the at least one susceptor is placed in the magnetic field created by the coil;
 each of the at least one protrusion is arranged to face at least partially a the at least one susceptor in susceptor of the storage compartment of the replaceable article, when the replaceable article is received in the receptacle.

         13 . The aerosol generation device according to claim 12 , wherein each of the at least one protrusion defines a top portion arranged to face the downstream end of the corresponding susceptor, when the replaceable article is received in the receptacle.
