Abstract
A cooling device (10) for personal cooling is provided. The cooling device (10) includes a thermoelectric heat pump (12) having a first side (14) and a second side (16), a fan (18) and a housing (20) having a plurality of openings (22). The thermoelectric heat pump (12) is operable to extract heat from a heat source via the first side (14) and transfer the heat from the first side (14) to the second side (16) on application of an electric current from a power source through the thermoelectric heat pump (12). The fan (18) is operable to dissipate the heat extracted by the thermoelectric heat pump (12). The thermoelectric heat pump (12) and the fan (18) are received in the housing (20).

a thermoelectric heat pump having a first side and a second side, wherein the thermoelectric heat pump is operable to extract heat from a heat source via the first side and transfer the heat from the first side to the second side on application of an electric current from a power source through the thermoelectric heat pump; a fan operable to dissipate the heat extracted by the thermoelectric heat pump; and a housing having a plurality of openings, wherein the thermoelectric heat pump and the fan are received in the housing.
2 . The cooling device of claim 1 , further comprising a power interface electrically connected to the thermoelectric heat pump and the fan.
3 . The cooling device of claim 2 , wherein the power interface is selected from a group consisting of one or more wires, one or more Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, one or more pogo pins and a wireless receiver.
4 . The cooling device of claim 1 , further comprising a heat sink attached to the second side of the thermoelectric heat pump.
5 . The cooling device of claim 4 , wherein the heat sink comprises a plurality of fins.
6 . The cooling device of claim 1 , wherein the housing comprises:
a base; and a casing detachably attached to the base.
7 . The cooling device of claim 6 , wherein the casing is secured to the base by one of a plurality of bolts, a plurality of threaded connections formed on the base and the casing, a plurality of fasteners and an adhesive.
