Abstract

A commode footstool system and method for abutting a commode includes a commode including a base having a bowl and a seat. A foldable frame is removably abuttable to the bowl of the commode and is positionable from a folded position to an open position. The foldable frame includes a pair of steps facilitating ascending a user of the commode from a floor surface to the seat and provides a footrest of the user when sitting on the seat of the commode when in the open position. The foldable frame includes a pair of front legs and a pair of back legs being pivotally coupled to the steps and supporting a front and a back of the foldable frame upon the floor surface respectively. A pair of offset legs is pivotally coupled to the steps and facilitates pivoting the foldable frame from the folded position to the open position.

Claims

I claim:

         1 . A footstool system being configured for assisting a user reach the seat of a commode, the footstool system comprising:
 a commode including:
 a base having a top side and a bottom side, the bottom side mounting to a floor surface;
 a bowl being mounted to the top side of the base;
 a seat being pivotally attached to the bowl;
   a foldable frame being removably abuttable to the bowl of the commode and being positionable from a folded position to an open position, the foldable frame including:
 a pair of steps facilitating ascending a user of the commode from said floor surface to the seat of the commode and being configured for providing a footrest of the user when sitting on the seat of the commode when in said open position;
 a pair of front legs being pivotally coupled to said steps and supporting a front of said foldable frame upon said floor surface;
 a pair of back legs being pivotally coupled to said steps and supporting a back of said foldable frame upon said floor surface; and
 a pair of offset legs being pivotally coupled to said steps and facilitating pivoting said foldable frame from said folded position to said open position.

         2 . The footstool system of claim 1 , wherein the pair of steps includes a lower panel having a front edge, a back edge, and a pair of side edges.

         3 . The footstool system of claim 1 , further including an upper panel having a forward edge, a rear edge, and a pair of lateral edges, the rear edge having a cutout and being concavely arcuate.

         4 . The footstool system of claim 1 , wherein each front leg has a first end, a second end, and a middle section, the middle section of the front legs being pivotally coupled to each one of the side edges of the lower panel and being positioned proximate to the front edge of the lower panel, the first end of the front legs being pivotally coupled to each one of the lateral edges of the upper panel and being positioned proximate to the forward edge of the upper panel.

         5 . The footstool system of claim 1 , wherein each back leg has a top end, a bottom end, and a center section, the top end of the back legs removably abutting the upper panel.

         6 . The footstool system of claim 1 , wherein each offset leg has a upper end, a lower end, and a median section, the median section of the offset legs being pivotally coupled to the center section of the back legs, the lower end of the offset legs being pivotally coupled to each of the side edges of the lower panel and being positioned proximate to the back edge of the lower panel, the upper end of the offset legs being pivotally coupled to each of the lateral edges of the upper panel and being positioned proximate to the rear edge of the upper panel.

         7 . A footstool system being configured for assisting a user reach the seat of a commode, the footstool system comprising:
 a commode including:
 a base having a top side and a bottom side, the bottom side mounting to a floor surface;
 a bowl being mounted to the top side of the base;
 a seat being pivotally attached to the bowl;
   a foldable frame being removably abuttable to the bowl of the commode and being positionable from a folded position to an open position, the foldable frame including:
 a pair of steps facilitating ascending a user of the commode from said floor surface to the seat of the commode and being configured for providing a footrest of the user when sitting on the seat of the commode when in said open position, the pair of steps including:
 a lower panel having a front edge, a back edge, and a pair of side edges; and
 an upper panel having a forward edge, a rear edge, and a pair of lateral edges, the rear edge having a cutout and being concavely arcuate;

 a pair of front legs being pivotally coupled to said steps and supporting a front of said foldable frame, each front leg having a first end, a second end, and a middle section, the middle section of the front legs being pivotally coupled to each one of the side edges of the lower panel and being positioned proximate to the front edge of the lower panel, the first end of the front legs being pivotally coupled to each one of the lateral edges of the upper panel and being positioned proximate to the forward edge of the upper panel;
 a pair of back legs being pivotally coupled to said steps and supporting a back of said foldable frame, each back leg having a top end, a bottom end, and a center section, the top end of the back legs removably abutting the upper panel; and
 a pair of offset legs being pivotally coupled to said steps and facilitating pivoting said foldable frame from said folded position to said open position, each offset leg having a upper end, a lower end, and a median section, the median section of the offset legs being pivotally coupled to the center section of the back legs, the lower end of the offset legs being pivotally coupled to each of the side edges of the lower panel and being positioned proximate to the back edge of the lower panel, the upper end of the offset legs being pivotally coupled to each of the lateral edges of the upper panel and being positioned proximate to the rear edge of the upper panel.

         8 . A method for using a step assembly comprising the steps of:
 positioning a foldable frame into an open position, the open position including a pair of steps being positioned horizontal relative to a seat of a commode, an upper panel of the steps being positioned above a lower panel of the steps, a pair of front legs being downwardly angled relative to the steps, a pair of offset legs being positioned parallel relative to the front legs, a pair of back legs being downwardly angled relative to the steps and being positioned oppositely angled relative to the front legs; and abutting a rear edge of the upper panel to a bowl of the commode.
