Abstract
An outboard position retention device configured to removably connect about a part of a rod on which the motor moves, and includes a retention pin extending therefrom such that when the first member is connected to the rod, the pin is fixably disposed in a complementary configured open receiving surface on a plate which is connected to the outboard motor and thereby substantially prevents the outboard motor from moving.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed:
1 . A device which enables the restriction the movement of an outboard motor having a steering plate and which is movably connected on a rod adjacent a transom of a boat, which includes:
a first member configured to removably connect about the rod; and a second member connected to the first member which includes a retention pin extending there from such that when the first member is connected to the rod, the retention pin is fixably disposed in a complementary configured open receiving surface formed in the steering plate to substantially prevent the outboard motor from moving.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein said first member includes a front snap fit recess to receive a part of the rod.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein said second member includes a main body which has a receiving surface to receive a back surface of said first member.
4 . The device of claim 3 , wherein said main body includes a handle which extends therefrom.
5 . The device of claim 3 , wherein said main body includes an arm extending therefrom and includes said retention pin extending therefrom.
6 . The device of claim 4 , wherein said main body includes an arm extending from said handle and includes said retention pin which extends therefrom.
7 . The device of claim 3 , wherein said arm is adjustably connected to said main body by way of a plurality of aligned threaded connections and in this way is adjustable to be fixed at a desired length to fit a predetermined motor and open receiving surface configuration.
8 . The device of claim 4 , wherein said arm is adjustably connected to said handle by way of a plurality of aligned threaded connections and in this way is adjustable to be fixed at a desired length to fit a predetermined motor and open receiving surface configuration.
9 . An outboard position retention device for retaining position of an outboard motor movably mounted on a rod, which includes a base member configured to removably connect about a part of the rod on which the outboard motor moves and includes a retention pin extending from a part of said base member such that when said base member is connected to the rod, said retention pin is fixably disposed in a complementary configured open receiving surface on a plate which is connected to the outboard motor and thereby substantially prevents the outboard motor from moving.
10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein said base member includes a front snap fit recess to receive a part of the rod.
11 . The device of claim 10 , wherein said part of said base member includes a main body which has a receiving surface to receive a back surface of a first member including said snap fit recess.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein said main body includes a handle which extends therefrom.
13 . The device of claim 11 , wherein said main body includes an arm extending therefrom and includes said retention pin extending therefrom.
14 . The device of claim 12 , wherein said main body includes an arm extending from said handle and includes said retention pin which extends therefrom.
15 . The device of claim 11 , wherein said arm is adjustably connected to said main body by way of a plurality of aligned threaded connections and in this way is adjustable to be fixed at a desired length to fit a predetermined motor and open receiving surface configuration.
16 . The device of claim 12 , wherein said arm is adjustably connected to said handle by way of a plurality of aligned threaded connections and in this way is adjustable to be fixed at a desired length to fit a predetermined motor and open receiving surface configuration.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
