Abstract
A washover tool including an inner housing and an outer housing forming an enclosed annulus. The washover tool includes a rod member coupled to the outer housing, the rod member configured to supply a fluid to the annulus. The washover tool includes a front face plate having a plurality of openings in fluid communication with the annulus. The annulus of the washover tool is configured to receive a fluid through the rod member and configured to eject the fluid through the plurality of openings of the front face plate to washover a pipe embedded in a ground.
Claims

a body comprising:
an outer surface;
an inner surface forming an inner bore disposed through the body;
a front face plate disposed between the outer surface and the inner surface at a front end of the body; and
a plurality of openings formed through the front face plate; and
a rod member coupled to the outer surface of the body and configured to supply pressurized fluid to the body, wherein the pressurized fluid is flowed out of the plurality of openings to washover a pipe extending at least partially through the inner bore of the body.
2 . The washover tool of claim 1 , wherein the body further comprises an annulus formed between the outer surface and the inner surface.
3 . The washover tool of claim 2 , wherein rod member is configured to supply the pressurized fluid to the annulus of the body, and wherein the pressurized fluid is flowed from the annulus to and out of the plurality of openings.
4 . The washover tool of claim 1 , wherein the inner surface and the outer surface comprise different lengths.
5 . The washover tool of claim 1 , wherein the rod member is coupled to and disposed along the entire length of the outer surface.
6 . The washover tool of claim 1 , wherein the body is substantially cylindrical in shape.
7 . The washover tool of claim 1 , wherein the front face plate is coupled to an end of the outer surface and an end of the inner surface.
8 . A washover system, comprising:
a control system; and a washover tool, wherein the washover tool comprises:
a body comprising:
an outer surface;
an inner surface forming an inner bore disposed through the body; and
a plurality of openings disposed at a front end of the body; and
a rod member coupled to the outer surface of the body and configured to supply pressurized fluid to the body, wherein the pressurized fluid is flowed out of the plurality of openings to washover a pipe extending at least partially through the inner bore of the body, and
wherein the control system is fluidly coupled to and configured to supply the pressurized fluid to the rod member.
9 . The washover tool of claim 8 , wherein the body further comprises an annulus formed between the outer surface and the inner surface, wherein rod member is configured to supply the pressurized fluid to the annulus of the body, and wherein the pressurized fluid is flowed from the annulus to and out of the plurality of openings.
10 . The washover tool of claim 8 , wherein the inner surface and the outer surface comprise different lengths.
11 . The washover tool of claim 8 , wherein the rod member is coupled to and disposed along the entire length of the outer surface.
12 . The washover tool of claim 8 , wherein the body further comprises a front face plate disposed between the outer surface and the inner surface at the front end of the body, wherein the front face plate is coupled to an end of the outer surface and an end of the inner surface, and wherein the plurality of openings are formed through the front face plate.
13 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the control system is rigidly coupled to the rod member and configured to move the washover tool along the pipe.
14 . A method of using a washover tool to washover a pipe at least partially buried in the ground, comprising:
placing the washover tool around the pipe, wherein the washover tool comprises:
a body comprising:
an outer surface;
an inner surface forming an inner bore disposed through the body, wherein at least a portion of the pipe extends through the inner bore when the washover tool is placed around the pipe; and
a plurality of openings disposed at a front end of the body; and
a rod member coupled to the outer surface of the body and configured to supply pressurized fluid to the body;
supplying the pressurized fluid to the body through the rod member; ejecting the pressurized fluid from the body out through the plurality of openings to washover the pipe; and moving the washover tool along the pipe to washover the pipe.
15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising removing the pipe from the ground by pulling the pipe through the inner bore of the body of the washover tool.
16 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising supplying the pressurized fluid to the rod member via a control system that is fluidly coupled to the rod member.
17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising removing the pipe from the ground.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein removing the pipe from the ground comprises:
disconnecting the control system from the rod member; connecting the control system to the pipe; and pulling the pipe from the ground with the control system.
19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the control system moves the washover tool along the pipe.
