Abstract
Disclosed is a comfort liner for wig users that protects the scalp and skin from irritating contact with the knots and protrusions from the underside of a wig. The comfort liner is made with breathable materials that is comfortable to wear continuously and includes portions covered by a silicone elastomer that reinforce the perimeter of the liner to prevent curling or folding while also having the ability to reshape itself to the user's specific shape for a more comfortable fit. The liner exhibits a compound perimeter shape to fit most head shapes.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
. A comfort liner dimensioned to fit on a user's head under a wig and having a generally, partial-dome shape that comprises: (a) a lightweight first layer comprising a soft, moisture-absorbent fabric having a perimeter shape with a front portion and a rear portion, and (b) flexible, silicone elastomer disposed along a front edge on said front portion and a rear edge along said rear portion, wherein said elastomer penetrates into said one or more layers and, when cured, bonds together said one or more layers.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 wherein at least first layer comprises 1-100 wt % lyocell based on fabric weight.
. A comfort liner according to claim 2 wherein at least first layer comprises 50-100 wt % lyocell.
. A comfort liner according to claim 3 further comprising a second layer that comprises silk.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 wherein said silicone is also disposed on said liner along a path that is offset from, and substantially parallel to, said front edge.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 wherein said liner has a compound shape in which said front portion has a first radius of curvature and said rear portion has a second radius of curvature that is greater than said first radius of curvature.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 wherein said silicone is present on both an outer surface and an inner surface of said liner.
. A comfort liner according to claim 7 wherein said silicone has been applied to said outer surface and penetrates through said first and second layers.
. A comfort liner according to claim 7 wherein said silicone has been applied to said inner surface and to said outer surface.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 wherein said first radius of curvature is within a range from about 5-13 cm.
. A comfort liner according to claim 10 wherein said second radius of curvature is within a range from about 14-21 cm.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 wherein said first radius of curvature is within a range from about 6-9 cm.
. A comfort liner according to claim 12 wherein and said second radius of curvature is within a range from about 14-17 cm.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 wherein said first radius of curvature is within a range from about 8-12 cm and said second radius of curvature is within a range from about 16-21 cm.
. A comfort liner according to claim 1 having 1-3 layers of said fabric and 1-3 layers of a fine silk.
. A comfort liner according to claim 15 having 2-3 total layers of said fabric and said silk.
. A comfort liner dimensioned to fit on just a crown portion of a user's head under a wig and having a generally, partial dome shape, said liner comprising: (a) 1-5 layers of a continuous, integral piece of dome-shaped lyocell fabric that exhibits a compound perimeter shape in which a front portion has a first radius of curvature and a rear portion has a second radius of curvature that is greater than said first radius of curvature, and (b) medical grade, flexible, silicone elastomer disposed along a front edge on said front portion and along a rear edge along said rear portion, wherein said elastomer penetrates into said one or more layers and, when cured, bonds together said one or more layers.
. A comfort liner according to claim 17 wherein said first radius of curvature is within a range from about 5-13 cm and said second radius of curvature is within a range from about 14-21 cm.
. A comfort liner according to claim 17 wherein said first radius of curvature is within a range from about 6-9 cm and said second radius of curvature is within a range from about 14-17 cm.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
