Aerosol-generating device
Abstract
An aerosol-generating device is disclosed. The aerosol-generating device of the disclosure includes a cartridge having a chamber formed therein to store a liquid, a body coupled to the cartridge, an ambient temperature sensor configured to sense the ambient temperature of the aerosol-generating device, and a controller. The cartridge includes a wick connected to the chamber and a heater configured to heat the wick. The controller updates a calculation equation for use in calculation of the temperature of the heater based on the ambient temperature sensed by the ambient temperature sensor, determines the temperature of the heater based on the updated calculation equation, and adjusts the amount of power supplied to the heater based on the determined temperature of the heater.

2 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the cartridge comprises:
a first container comprising the chamber; and a second container coupled to the first container, wherein the first container comprises an inner wall defining an elongated insertion space and an outer wall, wherein the chamber is formed between the inner wall and the outer wall, and wherein the wick is mounted in the second container.
3 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the cartridge further comprises a memory, and
wherein the controller is further configured to obtain one or more parameters for the temperature calculation equation based on reference data stored in the memory corresponding to the sensed ambient temperature.
4 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 3 , wherein the temperature calculation equation considers a temperature coefficient of resistance of the heater,
wherein the reference data stored in the memory comprises a plurality of resistance values corresponding to respective ambient temperatures, and wherein the one or more parameters comprises a resistance value corresponding to the sensed ambient temperature.
5 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 3 , wherein the controller is further configured to:
determine whether the reference data is stored in the memory when the body and the cartridge are coupled to each other, and perform control such that power is not supplied to the heater based on a determination that the reference data is not stored in the memory.
6 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 3 , further comprising:
an output device, wherein the controller is configured to output a message via the output device indicating that the cartridge is not available based on a determination that the reference data is not stored in the memory.
7 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a current sensor comprising a shunt resistor and disposed in the body, wherein, based on the body and the cartridge being coupled to each other, the shunt resistor is electrically connected in series to the heater, and wherein the controller is further configured to determine the temperature of the heater based on a signal received from the current sensor corresponding to a current flowing through the shunt resistor.
8 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 7 , wherein the controller is further configured to determine the current flowing through the shunt resistor while the heater heats the wick.
9 . The aerosol-generating device according to claim 1 , wherein the body comprises:
a lower body configured to support a lower portion of the cartridge; and an upper body disposed on the lower body and adjacent to a side portion of the cartridge, and wherein the ambient temperature sensor is disposed at the lower body.
