Abstract

A sleeping bag includes a top cover and bottom sheet. The bottom sheet can be secured to a sleeping pad and includes a sheet portion and lateral flaps connected to the sheet portion along opposite lateral edges of the sleeping pad when the bottom sheet is secured thereto. The top cover and lateral flaps enable attachment, detachment, and reattachment of the lateral flaps along their lateral edges to a top cover outer surface along corresponding attachment paths displaced medially from top cover lateral edges, enabling a top cover headward portion to assume wrapped and expanded configurations, and enabling conversion between those configurations. When wrapped, headward portions of the top cover outer surface, that are lateral of the attachment paths, are positioned against the sheet portion; when expanded, the lateral flaps and lateral portions of the top cover extend upward or laterally away from the sleeping pad lateral edges.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A bottom sheet adapted to be secured to a sleeping pad, the bottom sheet comprising:
a sheet portion; a pair of lateral flaps connected to the sheet portion in spaced relationship such that one lateral flap is spaced laterally from the other lateral flap; and a hood having a transverse hood segment and a pair of lateral hood segments, wherein each of the lateral hood segments of the hood are integral with a respective one of the lateral flaps.

2 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 1 wherein the sheet portion is constructed of a nonthermally insulating material.

3 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 1 wherein each flap of the pair of lateral flaps is constructed of a thermally insulating material.

4 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 1 wherein each flap of the pair of lateral flaps is sewn to the sheet portion.

5 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 1 wherein each flap of the pair of lateral flaps has a medial edge and a lateral edge, the distance between the medial edge and the lateral edge defining a flap width.

6 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 5 wherein the width is equal to or greater than 4 inches.

7 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 5 wherein the lateral edge of each flap of the pair of lateral flaps includes a zipper element.

8 . A bottom sheet adapted to be secured to a sleeping pad, the bottom sheet comprising:
a sheet portion; a first lateral flap attached to the sheet portion; a second lateral flap attached to the sheet portion in spaced relationship from the first lateral flap; a hood attached to the sheet portion, the hood including a transverse hood segment and a pair of lateral hood segments, wherein the first lateral flap is integrally formed with one of the lateral hood segments and the second lateral flap is integrally formed with the other one of the lateral hood segments.

9 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 8 wherein each flap of the pair of lateral flaps is sewn to the sheet portion.

10 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 8 wherein each flap of the pair of lateral flaps has a medial edge and a lateral edge, the distance between the medial edge and the lateral edge defining a flap width.

11 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 10 wherein the width is equal to or greater than 4 inches.

12 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 10 wherein the lateral edge of each flap of the pair of lateral flaps includes a zipper element.

13 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 8 wherein the hood is constructed of thermally insulating material.

14 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 8 wherein the transverse hood segment of the hood can act as a pillow

15 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 8 in combination with a pillow positioned within the hood.

16 . A bottom sheet adapted to be secured to a sleeping pad, the bottom sheet comprising:
a nonthermally insulting sheet portion; a thermally insulating first lateral flap attached to the sheet portion; a thermally insulating second lateral flap attached to the sheet portion in spaced relationship from the first lateral flap; a thermally insulating hood attached to the sheet portion, the hood including a transverse hood segment and a pair of lateral hood segments, wherein the first lateral flap is integrally formed with one of the lateral hood segments and the second lateral flap is integrally formed with the other one of the lateral hood segments.

17 . The bottom sheet set forth in claim 16 wherein the bottom sheet has a longitudinally extending length, each of the first lateral flap and the second lateral flap having a longitudinally extending length less than the longitudinally extending length of the bottom sheet.

18 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 17 wherein the longitudinally extending length of the bottom sheet is about twice the longitudinally extending length of each of the first lateral flap and the second lateral flap.

19 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 16 in combination with a sleeping pad.

20 . The bottom sheet as set forth in claim 16 in combination with a top cover.
