Abstract

An adaptable exercise apparatus designed to assisting those with reduced physical abilities, whether due to injury or age, perform a range of low impact exercises and stretches. The apparatus may include a stackable exercise platform having upturned lateral edges serving as ergonomically shaped gripping points. The apparatus may further include a cylindrical roller accessory component with terminal ends that are shaped to accommodate the upturned lateral edges of the stackable exercise platform. An individual may lay supine on the stackable exercise platform and push individual's body perpendicularly across the cylindrical roller accessory component applying pressure on the individual's spine and surrounding muscles.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1 . An apparatus to assist an individual with reduced physical abilities perform light exercises and stretches, said apparatus comprising:
at least one stackable exercise platform having a superior surface and an inferior surface with a length between three and four feet, a width between two and three feet, and a thickness between two and six inches for the purpose of providing the individual with a comfortable and elevated surface on which to perform light exercises and stretches, wherein lateral edges of said at least one stackable exercise platform are turned upwards and rounded in an ergonomic fashion forming handrails running the length of said at least one stackable exercise platform, and said superior surface and the inferior surface of said at least one stackable exercise platform are complimentary in shape allowing for secure coupling of said at least one stackable exercise platform when said at least one stackable exercise platform is placed in vertical adjacency with another said at least one stackable exercise platform.

2 . The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising:
a cylindrical roller accessory component extending across the width of said at least one stackable exercise platform with terminal ends that are shaped to accommodate and be guided by said handrails running the length of said at least one stackable exercise platform for the purpose of applying pressure on an individual spine and surrounding muscles when the individual lies supine on said cylindrical roller accessory component and pushes their body perpendicularly to said cylindrical roller accessory component.

3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein each handrail is a U-shaped handrail having a first rounded portion and a second rounded portion.

4 . The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein said superior surface is connected to the first rounded portion, and said inferior surface is connected to the second rounded portion.

5 . The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the first rounded portion and the second rounded portion are integrated and form the U-shaped handrail.

6 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein a shape of the terminal ends of said cylindrical roller accessory component is same as a shape of said handrails of said at least one stackable exercise platform.

7 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the terminals ends of said cylindrical roller accessory component are stacked over said handrails of said at least one stackable exercise platform.

8 . The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein a width of the cylindrical roller accessory component is equivalent to a width of the superior surface or the inferior surface.

9 . An apparatus to assist an individual with reduced physical abilities perform light exercises and stretches, said apparatus comprising:
at least one stackable exercise platform having a superior surface and an inferior surface with a length between three and four feet, a width between two and three feet, and a thickness between two and six inches for the purpose of providing the individual with a comfortable and elevated surface on which to perform light exercises and stretches, wherein lateral edges of said at least one stackable exercise platform are turned upwards and rounded in an ergonomic fashion forming handrails running the length of said at least one stackable exercise platform, and said superior surface and the inferior surface of said at least one stackable exercise platform are complimentary in shape allowing for secure coupling of said at least one stackable exercise platform when said at least one stackable exercise platform is placed in vertical adjacency with another said at least one stackable exercise platform; and a cylindrical roller accessory component extending across the width of said at least one stackable exercise platform.

10 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein each handrail is a U-shaped handrail having a first rounded portion and a second rounded portion.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein said superior surface is connected to the first rounded portion, and said inferior surface is connected to the second rounded portion.

12 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the first rounded portion and the second rounded portion are integrated and form the U-shaped handrail.

13 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein said cylindrical roller accessory component comprises terminal ends that are shaped to accommodate and be guided by said handrails.

14 . The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein a shape of the terminal ends of said cylindrical roller accessory component is same as a shape of said handrails of said at least one stackable exercise platform.

15 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein a width of the cylindrical roller accessory component is equivalent to a width of the superior surface or the inferior surface.

16 . An apparatus to assist an individual with reduced physical abilities perform light exercises and stretches, said apparatus comprising:
at least one stackable exercise platform having a superior surface and an inferior surface with a length between three and four feet, a width between two and three feet, and a thickness between two and six inches for the purpose of providing the individual with a comfortable and elevated surface on which to perform light exercises and stretches, wherein lateral edges of said at least one stackable exercise platform are turned upwards and rounded in an ergonomic fashion forming handrails running the length of said at least one stackable exercise platform, and said superior surface and the inferior surface of said at least one stackable exercise platform are complimentary in shape allowing for secure coupling of said at least one stackable exercise platform when said at least one stackable exercise platform is placed in vertical adjacency with another said at least one stackable exercise platform,
