Abstract

A prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly for cosmetic application onto a decedent includes a base member configured to be positionable between a cornea of an eye of a decedent and each of a top eyelid and a bottom eyelid of the decedent. A plurality of filaments is coupled to and extends away from a front surface of the base member and has a visual appearance of human eyelashes. A method of positioning the prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly on the cornea of the decedent is also disclosed.

I claim: 
     
         1 . A prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly for a decedent, the assembly comprising:
 a base member configured to be positionable between a cornea of the eye and each of a top eyelid and a bottom eyelid of the decedent, the base member having a top edge and a bottom edge, the base member having a pair of lateral edges each extending between the top edge and the bottom edge; and   a plurality of filaments being coupled to and extending away from a front surface of the base member, the plurality of filaments having a visual appearance of human eyelashes, the plurality of filaments being positioned along a curvilinear path extending between the pair of lateral edges of the base member.   
     
     
         2 . The assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the front surface has a convex shape, the base member having a rear surface having a concave shape. 
     
     
         3 . The assembly of  claim 2 , wherein the rear surface is abuttable against the cornea such that the rear surface matches a shape of the cornea. 
     
     
         4 . The assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the curvilinear path is positioned nearer to the bottom edge than the top edge. 
     
     
         5 . The assembly of  claim 4 , wherein the base member has a height dimension between the top edge and the bottom edge, the curvilinear path having a distance from the bottom edge of the base member of between 25.0% of the height dimension of the base member and 50.0% of the height dimension. 
     
     
         6 . The assembly of  claim 1 , further comprising an adhesive layer being coupled to the front surface of the base member. 
     
     
         7 . A prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly for a decedent, the assembly comprising:
 a base member configured to be positionable between a cornea of the eye and each of a top eyelid and a bottom eyelid of the decedent, the base member having a front surface having a convex shape and a rear surface having a concave shape, the rear surface being abuttable against and matching a shape of the cornea, the base member having a top edge and a bottom edge, the base member having a pair of lateral edges each extending between the top edge and the bottom edge, the base member having a height dimension between the top edge and the bottom edge;   a plurality of filaments being coupled to and extending away from the front surface of the base member, the plurality of filaments having a visual appearance of human eyelashes, the plurality of filaments being positioned along a curvilinear path extending between the pair of lateral edges of the base member, the curvilinear path being positioned nearer to the bottom edge than the top edge, the curvilinear path having a distance from the bottom edge of the base member of between 25.0% of the height dimension of the base member and 50.0% of the height dimension; and   an adhesive layer being coupled to the front surface of the base member.   
     
     
         8 . A method of applying a prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly onto a decedent comprising the steps of:
 positioning a base member of the prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly on a cornea of the decedent such that a rear surface of the base member abuts the cornea, the prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly comprising a plurality of filaments being coupled to and extending away from a front surface of the base member, the plurality of filaments having a visual appearance of human eyelashes, the plurality of filaments being positioned along a curvilinear path extending between the pair of lateral edges of the base member;   positioning a top eyelid of the decedent over a top edge of the base member and the front surface of the base member such that and an edge of the top eyelid is positioned in abutment with and alignment with the curvilinear path;   positioning a bottom eyelid of the decedent over a bottom edge of the base member and the front surface of the base member such that an edge of the bottom eyelid is positioned in abutment with and alignment with the curvilinear path.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the step of positioning a base member of the prosthetic eyelash simulation assembly on a cornea of the decedent further comprises conforming the base member to a shape of the cornea. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the step of positioning the top eyelid over the top edge and the front surface of the base member further comprises adhering the top eyelid to an adhesive layer being coupled to the front surface. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the step of positioning the bottom eyelid over the bottom edge and the front surface of the base member further comprises adhering the bottom eyelid to an adhesive layer being coupled to the front surface.
