Infant Sleep Bag with Extended Detachable Swaddling Piece
Abstract
A sleep system for infants includes a zippered sleep bag, an extended swaddling piece for swaddling the infant, and a pair of releasably attachable, detachable, and reattachable connections between the back of the sleep bag and the inside of the swaddling piece. The connections permit removably attaching, detaching, and reattaching the swaddling piece from the sleep bag for adjusting the vertical alignment therebetween or for removing the swaddling piece therefrom. The connection is made by engagement of mating fastener patches using hook-and-loop fabric. Adjustable engagement of the patch on the back of the sleep bag with the patch on the inside of the swaddling piece creates a contact area permitting positioning and vertical between the sleep bag and swaddling piece. A pair of vertically-separated connections on the swaddling piece, including on the bottom corner, help retain the bottom edge of swaddling piece well below the reach of an infant to prevent it from pulling up the swaddling piece towards its face.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A sleep system, comprising:
an infant sleep bag having a back face; and a swaddling piece having
an inside, an outside, a left wrap and a right wrap;
a pair of wrap fastener patches on one of said wraps, the wrap fastener patches attached on said inside; and
a pair of wrap mating fastener patches attached on said outside on the other of the said wraps;
a releasably attachable connection between the back face and the inside.
2 . The sleep system of claim 1 , further comprising one of said pair of mating wrap fastener patches attached to both the left wrap and the right wrap.
3 . The sleep system of claim 2 , further comprising said one of said pair of mating wrap fastener patches extending farther on one of the wraps than on the other wrap.
4 . The sleep system of claim 1 ,
the swaddling piece further comprising a centerline; and one of said pair of mating wrap fastener patches attached across the centerline.
5 . The sleep system of claim 4 , further comprising said one of said pair of mating wrap fastener patches being offset from the centerline.
6 . The sleep system of claim 1 ,
said pair of wrap fastener patches comprising an upper wrap fastener patch and a lower wrap fastener patch; and said pair of mating wrap fastener patches comprising an upper mating wrap fastener patch and a lower mating wrap fastener patch.
7 . The sleep system of claim 1 ,
the swaddling piece further comprising an upper corner and a lower corner on a first of said wraps; and one each of said pair of wrap fastener patches located in one each of said upper corner and lower corner.
8 . The sleep system of claim 7 , the swaddling piece further comprising a middle wrap fastener patch located between the pair of wrap fastener patches.
9 . The sleep system of claim 1 , the releasably attachable connection further comprising:
a mating fastener patch attached to the back face; and a fastener patch attached to the inside.
10 . The sleep system of claim 9 :
the swaddling piece further comprising a centerline; and the fastener patch extending along and laterally from said centerline.
11 . The sleep system of claim 10 , further comprising:
a pair of releasably attachable connections between the back face and the inside; and said pair of releasably attachable connections comprising two fastener patches extending along and laterally from said centerline.
12 . The sleep system of claim 1 , each of the releasably attachable connections further comprising:
a positioning contact area between a fastener patch and a mating fastener patch; and a vertical adjustment area.
13 . The sleep system of claim 12 , the vertical adjustment areas composed of an area in which one of said fastener patch and said mating fastener patch is not in contact with the other.
14 . The sleep system of claim 1 , the swaddling piece further comprising:
the pair of wrap fastener patches being fully vertically separated; and the pair of wrap mating fastener patches being vertically separated.
15 . A method of swaddling an infant in an infant sleep bag, comprising:
laying out a swaddling piece with an inside of the swaddling piece facing up; placing an infant sleep bag on a back face of the infant sleep bag on the inside of the swaddling piece; and releasably attaching the sleep bag to the swaddling piece by a releasable connection; and removably attaching a pair of wrap fastener patches on one of a left wrap and a right wrap of the swaddling piece to a pair of wrap mating fastener patches on the other of the said wraps;
the wrap fastener patches being attached on the inside and the wrap mating fastener patches being attached on an outside of the swaddling piece.
16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising one of said pair of mating wrap fastener patches attached to both the left wrap and the right wrap.
17 . The method of claim 15 :
the swaddling piece further comprising a centerline; and one of said pair of mating wrap fastener patches attached across the centerline.
18 . The method of claim 15 , the removably attaching step further comprising:
fastening an upper wrap fastener patch to an upper wrap mating fastener patch and attaching a lower wrap fastener patch to a lower wrap mating fastener patch.
19 . The method of claim 18 , further comprising:
said pair of wrap mating fastener patches being fully vertically-separated.
20 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:
determining if a vertical alignment between the sleep bag and the swaddling piece is correct; and detaching the sleep bag from the swaddling piece to adjust the vertical alignment.
21 . The method of claim 20 , further comprising:
releasably reattaching the sleep bag to the swaddling piece.
22 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising:
removably attaching a third wrap fastener patch to one of the pair of wrap mating fastener patches.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
