Window air conditioner and curtain assembly

Abstract

An air conditioner assembly for installation at a window assembly is provided. The air conditioner assembly includes an air conditioning unit fixable to the window assembly. The air conditioning unit includes a housing having a sidewall. The housing includes a conditioned air exhaust opening, a room air intake opening, and a control panel. A curtain assembly includes a curtain frame having a first member extending along a first axis and a second member extending along a second axis. The curtain frame houses a panel moveable along the second axis between the sidewall of the air conditioning unit and the second member of the curtain frame. The panel includes a magnet coupled to the panel proximate to the sidewall of the air conditioning unit.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An air conditioner assembly for installation at a window assembly, the window assembly having a window frame moveable along a first axis and a windowsill extending along a second axis, the air condition assembly comprising:
 an air conditioning unit fixable to the window assembly, the air conditioning unit comprising a housing having a sidewall, the housing comprising a conditioned air exhaust opening, a room air intake opening, and a control panel; and   a curtain assembly comprising a curtain frame, the curtain frame having a first member extending along the first axis and a second member extending along the second axis, the curtain frame housing a panel moveable along the second axis between the sidewall of the air conditioning unit and the second member of the curtain frame, the panel comprising a magnet coupled to the panel proximate to the sidewall of the air conditioning unit.   
     
     
         2 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , the sidewall comprising a magnetic metallic material. 
     
     
         3 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , the curtain frame comprising a fastener opening. 
     
     
         4 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , the panel fixed to the first member of the curtain frame. 
     
     
         5 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 4 , a proximate end of the panel being moveable along the second axis. 
     
     
         6 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , the panel comprising an accordion panel forming a wall between an interior side of the curtain frame and an exterior side of the curtain frame. 
     
     
         7 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , comprising:
 a tab forming a panel fastener opening, the tab configured to affix to the panel and the windowsill.   
     
     
         8 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 7 , the tab configured to affix to a distal end of the panel relative to the sidewall of the air conditioning unit. 
     
     
         9 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , the panel comprising a seal positioned at a proximate end of the panel relative to the sidewall of the air conditioning unit. 
     
     
         10 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 9 , the magnet affixed to the seal, wherein the magnet is positioned between the seal and the sidewall of the air conditioning unit. 
     
     
         11 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 9 , the seal extending along the first axis between a pair of second members of the curtain frame. 
     
     
         12 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 11 , the magnet affixed to the seal, wherein the magnet is positioned between the seal and the sidewall of the air conditioning unit, and wherein the magnet extends along the first axis between the pair of second members of the curtain frame. 
     
     
         13 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 9 , the seal comprising a wave spring extending along a third axis orthogonal to the first axis and the second axis. 
     
     
         14 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 9 , the seal comprising a labyrinth seal. 
     
     
         15 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 9 , the seal extending along a third axis greater than the panel extending along the third axis, wherein the third axis is orthogonal to the first axis and the second axis 
     
     
         16 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , the magnet comprising a plurality of magnets in adjacent arrangement along the first axis. 
     
     
         17 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 11 , the magnet extending substantially entirely between the pair of second members of the curtain frame. 
     
     
         18 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 1 , the panel moveable to a closed position at which the magnet of the panel couples the panel to the sidewall of the air conditioning unit. 
     
     
         19 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 18 , the panel moveable to an open position at which the magnet is decoupled from the sidewall of the air conditioning unit. 
     
     
         20 . The air conditioning assembly of  claim 19 , wherein the panel is affixed to the first member of the curtain assembly when in the open position and the closed position.
