Integrated hand covering on outdoor clothing apparel

Abstract

An article of apparel may include a torso portion. An arm portion extends from the torso portion to an armhole. An integrated hand covering is integrated with the arm portion. The integrated hand covering includes a wrist extension. The wrist extension is connected to a finger covering and an inner surface of the arm portion. A hand opening is located at the wrist extension. The integrated hand covering includes hand connection to connect the integrated hand covering to the arm portion.

1 . An article of apparel, comprising:
 a torso portion;   an arm portion extending from the torso portion; and   an integrated hand covering, including:
 a wrist extension connected to an inner surface of the arm portion; 
 a hand opening at the wrist extension; and 
 a hand connection to connect the integrated hand covering to the arm portion. 
   
     
     
         2 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , wherein the hand opening is selectively closeable with a zipper. 
     
     
         3 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , wherein the hand connection includes a hand connector to connect the integrated hand covering to a complimentary arm connector on the arm portion. 
     
     
         4 . The article of apparel of  claim 3 , wherein the hand connector connects the integrated hand covering to an outer surface of the arm portion. 
     
     
         5 . The article of apparel of  claim 3 , wherein an outer surface of the arm portion includes an arm connector complementary to the hand connector. 
     
     
         6 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , wherein a finger portion of the integrated hand covering is waterproof. 
     
     
         7 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , wherein the wrist extension is not waterproof. 
     
     
         8 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , further comprising a leg portion extending from the torso portion. 
     
     
         9 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , wherein the integrated hand covering includes a mitten. 
     
     
         10 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , wherein the wrist extension is formed from an insulated material. 
     
     
         11 . The article of apparel of  claim 1 , wherein the arm portion extends over the wrist extension. 
     
     
         12 . A jacket arm, comprising:
 a waterproof outer surface opposite an inner surface; and   an integrated hand covering including:
 a wrist extension; 
 a connection portion connecting the wrist extension to the inner surface; 
 a finger portion; 
 a thumb portion; 
 a hand opening located between the thumb portion and the connection portion; and 
 a connector to connect the finger portion to the waterproof outer surface. 
   
     
     
         13 . The jacket arm of  claim 12 , wherein the connection portion is located at the inner surface such that the waterproof outer surface overlaps at least a portion of the wrist extension. 
     
     
         14 . The jacket arm of  claim 13 , wherein the waterproof outer surface overlaps the hand opening. 
     
     
         15 . The jacket arm of  claim 12 , wherein the hand opening has an opening length that is between 25% and 50% of a circumference of the wrist extension. 
     
     
         16 . The jacket arm of  claim 12 , wherein the finger portion is configured to cover four fingers. 
     
     
         17 . The jacket arm of  claim 12 , wherein the hand opening includes a zipper connector. 
     
     
         18 . The jacket arm of  claim 17 , wherein the zipper connector is waterproof. 
     
     
         19 . A method for manufacturing an article of apparel, comprising:
 preparing a jacket arm;   securing a hand covering to an inner surface of the jacket arm at a connection portion;   preparing a hand opening on the hand covering; and   preparing a hand connection to connect the hand opening to an outer surface of the jacket arm.   
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein preparing the hand connection includes securing a hand connector of the hand connection to the hand covering and securing an arm connector to the outer surface of the jacket arm, the hand connector being complementary to the arm connector.
