Abstract
An article of apparel includes at least one fabric panel including a first yarn having a first denier and a second yarn having a second denier. The first yarn forms an auxetic structure on the fabric panel comprising a pattern of interconnected segments defining cells, each cell having an interior area. The second yarn forms a fill portion extending between the interconnected segments of the auxetic structure and substantially fills the interior area of each cell.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . (canceled)
2 . A knit textile comprising at least a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, the knit textile comprising:
a plurality of cells, each cell comprising:
a perimeter comprising a first percentage by weight of a first yarn type, the perimeter further comprising a second yarn type, wherein the first surface and the second surface of the perimeter of each cell of the plurality of cells comprises the first yarn type and the second yarn type, and wherein the perimeter of each cell of the plurality of cells is interconnected throughout the knit textile; and
a central region enclosed within the perimeter, wherein the first surface and the second surface of the central region of each cell of the plurality of cells comprises the second yarn type, wherein the central region of each cell of the plurality of cells is isolated from one another, and wherein a first cell and a second cell in the plurality of cells have at least one common portion of the perimeter.
3 . The knit textile of claim 2 , wherein the knit textile has a single knit construction formed from at least the first yarn type and the second yarn type.
4 . The knit textile of claim 2 , wherein the first yarn type comprises at least one of polyester, nylon, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and spandex fibers.
5 . The knit textile of claim 2 , wherein the first yarn has a denier between about 100 and 300 denier and the second yarn has a denier between about 50 and 150 denier.
6 . The knit textile of claim 2 , wherein the first yarn has a denier between about 100 and 300 denier and the second yarn has a denier of less than 100 denier.
7 . The knit textile of claim 2 , the perimeter of each cell further comprising a third yarn type, wherein the first surface and the second surface of the perimeter of each cell further comprises the third yarn type.
8 . The knit textile of claim 7 , the central region of each cell further comprising the third yarn type wherein the first surface and the second surface of the central region of each cell further comprises the third yarn type.
9 . The knit textile of claim 8 wherein the first yarn type has a denier between about 100 and 300 denier, and the third yarn type has a denier between about 33 and 100 denier.
10 . The knit textile of claim 9 wherein the first yarn type has a denier of about 100 and the third yarn type has a denier of about 33.
11 . The knit textile of claim 7 wherein a denier ratio of the first yarn type to the third yarn type is about 3:1.
12 . The knit textile of claim 2 , wherein a shape of each of the plurality of cells is a hexagon.
13 . The knit textile of claim 12 wherein the hexagon is an auxetic hexagon.
14 . The knit textile of claim 2 , wherein the perimeter has a higher stitch density than the central region.
15 . A textile having a knit construction and a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, the textile comprising:
a first portion defining a perimeter comprising a first percentage by weight of a first yarn type, wherein the first yarn type is a polymer comprising at least one of polyester, nylon, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and spandex fibers, and the perimeter of the first portion further comprising a second yarn type wherein the second yarn type is a polymer comprising at least one of polyester, nylon, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and spandex fibers wherein the first yarn type and the second yarn type form at least a portion of the first surface and the second surface of the perimeter of the first portion of the textile; and a second portion enclosed within the perimeter and comprising the second yarn type, wherein the second yarn type forms at least a portion of the first surface and the second surface of the second central portion of the textile, and wherein the first portion and the second portion integrally extend from one another.
16 . The textile of claim 15 , wherein the textile further comprises a plurality of first portions and a plurality of second portions, wherein each portion of the plurality of second portions is isolated from each other throughout the textile and spaced apart from an adjacent second portion by at least one first portion, and wherein the plurality of first portions are interconnected throughout the textile.
17 . The textile of claim 15 , wherein the textile is an air permeable textile defining a surface area wherein less than 25% of the surface area exposes direct openings through the fabric.
18 . An apparel item comprising:
a knit textile a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, the knit textile comprising at least:
a first portion comprising a stitched perimeter comprising a first yarn type and a second yarn type, wherein the first yarn type and the second yarn type are comprised of a polymer, wherein the first yarn type and the second yarn type form the first surface and the second surface of the perimeter of the first portion of the knit textile; and
a second portion enclosed within the perimeter, the second portion stitched using the second yarn type, wherein the second yarn type forms the first surface and the second surface of the second portion of the knit textile, and wherein
the first portion and the second portion are integrally stitched together.
19 . The apparel item of claim 18 , wherein the first portion has a higher stitch density than the second portion, and wherein the knit textile further comprises a plurality of first portions and a plurality of second portions.
20 . The apparel item of claim 18 , wherein the first portion and the second portion are stitched with a woven construction, circular knit construction, or warp knit construction.
21 . The apparel item of claim 20 wherein the first portion and the second portion are stitched with a jacquard warp knit construction.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
