Abstract
A Method and Apparatus for sidelink positioning is provided. The method includes receiving a SystemInformationBlock12 in a first cell, performing sidelink discovery based on the SL-ConfigCommonNR, receiving from a type2 UE a first SPP message, and performing sidelink positioning in the first cell based on the Pos_5G-S-TMSI and a Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IE of the one or more Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IEs. The SystemInformationBlock12 includes a SL-ConfigCommonNR and a SL_Pos_ConfigCommon. The SL_Pos_ConfigCommon includes a one or more Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IEs. The first SPP message includes the Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the type2 UE. The Pos_5G-S-TMSI is a temporary terminal identity provided by LMF.

receiving, from a base station, a SystemInformationBlock12, wherein the SystemInformationBlock12 comprises a SL-ConfigCommonNR and a SL_Pos_ConfigCommon, wherein the SL_Pos_ConfigCommon comprises one or more Sl_Pos_ResourcePool Information Elements (IEs); performing, based on the SL-ConfigCommonNR, a sidelink discovery; receiving, by the terminal and from a second terminal, a first SPP (Second Positioning Protocol) message, wherein the first SPP message comprises a Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the second terminal; and receiving, by the terminal and from a third terminal, a second SPP message, wherein the second SPP message comprises a Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the third terminal performing, by the terminal, sidelink positioning based on:
a Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IE that is determined from the one or more Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IEs;
the Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the second terminal; and
the Pos 5G-S-TMSI of the second terminal;
wherein the second terminal and the third terminal are identified by the sidelink discovery.
2 . A terminal comprising:
a transceiver, a memory, and a controller coupled to the transceiver and the memory, wherein the controller is configured to cause the terminal to: receive, from a base station, a SystemInformationBlock12, wherein the SystemInformationBlock12 comprises a SL-ConfigCommonNR and a SL_Pos_ConfigCommon, wherein the SL_Pos_ConfigCommon comprises one or more Sl_Pos_ResourcePool Information Elements (IEs), perform, based on the SL-ConfigCommonNR, a sidelink discovery, receive, by the terminal and from a second terminal, a first SPP (Second Positioning Protocol) message, wherein the first SPP message comprises a Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the second terminal, receive, by the terminal and from a third terminal, a second SPP message, wherein the second SPP message comprises a Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the third terminal, and perform, by the terminal, sidelink positioning based on:
a Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IE that is determined from the one or more Sl_Pos_ResourcePool IEs,
the Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the second terminal, and
the Pos_5G-S-TMSI of the second terminal,
