Abstract
Disclosed are systems and methods for playing a board game. In some embodiments, a game is provided having a game board, leader pieces, sets of flags, ally unit pieces, development pieces, trophy pieces, and/or coins. The game can further include leader cards, ally unit cards, development cards, and/or land cards. The game board can have lands, each land can have territories. In one embodiment, players take turns, and during a player's turn a player can take actions specified by game rules. In some embodiments, a player can (a) move a leader piece and/or ally units from one territory to another, (b) strike, flag, or guard a territory, (c) buy an Ally Card, spawn ally units, and/or build developments, (d) use traits, and/or (e) establish a Formal Truce. In certain embodiments, a player can win by holding three trophies or if the player's opponents lose all of their territories.

1 . A method of playing a game, the method comprising:
providing a game board, the game board comprising a plurality of lands, each of the plurality of lands comprising a plurality of territories; providing a set of rules of the game, wherein the rules of the game specify a plurality of actions a player can take during game play; providing a deck of leader cards, a deck of ally cards, a deck of development cards, and a deck of land cards; providing a plurality of sets of flags, wherein flags of the sets of flags are placed in said territories during game play according to the rules of the game; providing a plurality of sets of ally unit pieces, wherein ally unis of the sets of ally unit pieces are placed in said territories and used in actions during game play according to the rules of the game; providing a plurality of leader pieces, wherein leader pieces of the plurality of leader pieces are placed in said territories and used in actions during game play according to the rules of the game; providing a plurality of development pieces, wherein development pieces of the plurality of development pieces are placed in said territories and used in actions during game play according to the rules of the game; providing a plurality of Trophy Pieces to be used during game play according to the rules of the game; providing a set of coins to be used in actions during game play according to the rules of the game; distributing to each player a set of flags, a leader piece, and a land card; each player placing the player's leader piece and a flag of the player's set of flags on a territory within the land of the game board associated with the player's land card; at the start of a player's turn, the player receiving a number of coins equal to the number of territories having flags from the player's set of flags; during a player's turn, the player taking an action selected from the group comprising (a) travel, (b) strike, flag, or guard a territory, (c) buy Ally Card, spawn Ally Units, or build Developments, (d) use traits, and (e) establish a Formal Truce; after a player takes an action:
determining whether the player holds three Trophy Pieces, and if the player holds three Trophy Pieces declaring the player the winner;
determining whether all of the player's opponents have lost all of their territories, and if all of the player's opponents have lost all of their territories, declaring the player the winner;
determining whether the player has coins and wants to take another action, if the player has coins and wants to continue to take another action, the player takes another action; and
if the player is not declared the winner, and the player does not have coins and/or does not want to take another action, the game play continuing with another player's turn.
2 . The method of claim 1 , the rules specifying a cost associated with a movement of a leader piece and/or an ally unit from one territory to another.
3 . The method of claim 2 , the rules specifying the number of territories a leader piece and/or an ally unit piece can be moved for the cost during a player's turn.
4 . The method of claim 1 , the rules specifying how to strike, flag, and/or guard a territory.
5 . The method of claim 1 , the rules specifying how to buy an ally card, spawn ally units, and/or build developments.
6 . The method of claim 1 , the rules specifying how to use traits.
7 . The method of claim 1 , the rules specifying how to establish a Formal Truce.
8 . The method of claim 4 , wherein specifying how to strike a territory comprises adding a Strike Force value and/or a Guard Force value associated with a player's leader card, ally unit cards, and/or development cards.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the cards of the deck of leader cards comprises a Strike Force value, a Guard Force value, and/or a plurality of Traits.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the cards of the deck of ally unit cards comprises a Strike Force value, a Guard Force value, a cost value, a maximum population value, and/or at least one Trait.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the cards of the deck of development cards comprises a Guard Force value and/or at least one Trait.
12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the cards of the deck of development cards comprises a Guard Force value, a cost value, and/or at least one Trait.
13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the cards of the deck of land cards comprises at least one Perk and/or Incentive.
14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the cards of the deck of land cards comprises at least one Perk and/or Incentive.
15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each land card is uniquely associated with a Trophy Piece.
16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein each land card is uniquely associated with a Trophy Piece.
17 . The method of claim 4 , wherein specifying how to flag a territory comprises a player placing a flag in an unflagged territory and paying a pre-determined number of coins.
18 . The method of claim 1 , the rules specifying that a player becomes a ruler of a land when a player has three flagged territories within said land.
19 . The method of claim 1 , the rules specifying that if a player breaches a Formal Truce the player loses the player's next turn.
