Zipper Assist Device

Abstract

Example embodiments relate to a zipper assist device. An example embodiment includes a removable zipper assist device for attaching to a zipper component. Other example embodiments include a permanent zipper assist device for replacing a zipper tab.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A removable zipper assist device for attaching to a zipper component, the device comprising:
 a base member, wherein the base member includes a first side comprising a receiving slot and a second side comprising an at least one hinge joint;   a hinged member, wherein the hinged member comprises a first leg, a second leg, and a cover portion such that the first leg and the second leg extend perpendicular from the cover portion, and wherein the first leg further comprises a key configured to engage with the receiving slot when in a closed position, and wherein the second leg further comprises an at least one hinge such that the at least one hinge joint is configured to attach to the hinged member at the at least one hinge of the second leg;   a coupling mechanism attached to an upper edge of the base member, wherein the coupling mechanism is between the base member and the hinged member when in the closed position, and wherein the coupling mechanism is designed to couple with a loop in the zipper component;   a protrusion portion extending through the base member towards the hinged member such that the protrusion portion is hollow from an outer side of the base member, and wherein the protrusion portion further comprises a first magnetic component; and   a detachable tether having an elongated flexible element and an attaching mechanism comprising a second magnetic component configured to be coupled to the first magnetic component of the protrusion portion.   
     
     
         2 . The removable zipper assist device of  claim 1 , wherein the first magnetic component is positioned at a first angle within the protrusion portion, and wherein the second magnetic component is positioned at a second angle on the attaching mechanism such that the first angle and the second angle are configured to be coupled to each other. 
     
     
         3 . The removable zipper assist device of  claim 1 , wherein the detachable tether comprises a chained material. 
     
     
         4 . The removable zipper assist device of  claim 1 , wherein the detachable tether is wearable by a user. 
     
     
         5 . The removable zipper assist device of  claim 4 , wherein the detachable tether is able to be worn as a necklace. 
     
     
         6 . The removable zipper assist device of  claim 4 , wherein the detachable tether is able to be worn as a bracelet. 
     
     
         7 . The removable zipper assist device of  claim 4 , wherein the detachable tether further comprises a third magnetic component. 
     
     
         8 . The removable zipper assist device of  claim 7 , wherein the third magnetic component is shaped and magnetized the same as the first magnetic component such that the second magnetic component is configured to be coupled to the third magnetic component. 
     
     
         9 . A permanent zipper assist device for replacing a zipper tab, the device comprising:
 a fastening member;   a body member having a front side and a back side, wherein a portion of the back side of the body member comprises a depression, and wherein the depression further comprises a first magnetic component; and   a detachable tether having an elongated flexible element and an attaching mechanism comprising a second magnetic component configured to be coupled to the first magnetic component of the depression in the back side of the body member.   
     
     
         10 . The permanent zipper assist device of  claim 9 , wherein the first magnetic component is positioned at a first angle within a protrusion portion, and wherein the second magnetic component is positioned at a second angle on the attaching mechanism such that the first angle and the second angle are configured to be coupled to each other. 
     
     
         11 . The permanent zipper assist device of  claim 9 , wherein the detachable tether comprises a chained material. 
     
     
         12 . The permanent zipper assist device of  claim 9 , wherein the detachable tether is wearable by a user. 
     
     
         13 . The permanent zipper assist device of  claim 12 , wherein the detachable tether is able to be worn as a necklace. 
     
     
         14 . The permanent zipper assist device of  claim 12 , wherein the detachable tether is able to be worn as a bracelet. 
     
     
         15 . The permanent zipper assist device of  claim 12 , wherein the detachable tether further comprises a third magnetic component. 
     
     
         16 . The permanent zipper assist device of  claim 15 , wherein the third magnetic component is shaped and magnetized the same as the first magnetic component such that the second magnetic component is configured to be coupled to the third magnetic component. 
     
     
         17 . A zipper assist device, the zipper assist device comprising:
 a base member having a coupling mechanism, wherein the coupling mechanism is designed to couple with a zipper component;   a detachable tether having an elongated flexible element and an attaching mechanism; and   a coupling interface, wherein the coupling interface is configured to secure the detachable tether to the base member.   
     
     
         18 . The zipper assist device of  claim 17 , wherein the coupling interface comprises:
 a protrusion portion extending through the base member such that the protrusion portion is hollow from an outer side of the base member, wherein the protrusion portion is configured to receive the attaching mechanism of the detachable tether, and wherein the protrusion portion comprises a depressible button configured to release the attaching mechanism from the protrusion portion.   
     
     
         19 . The zipper assist device of  claim 17 , wherein the coupling interface comprises:
 a protrusion portion defining a receiving aperture configured to receive the attaching mechanism of the detachable tether, wherein the attaching mechanism of the detachable tether comprises a clip, and wherein the clip is configured to be inserted into the receiving aperture and secured.   
     
     
         20 . The zipper assist device of  claim 19 , wherein the coupling interface comprises a box clasp. 
     
     
         21 . The zipper assist device of  claim 17 , wherein the detachable tether comprises a chained material. 
     
     
         22 . The zipper assist device of  claim 17 , wherein the detachable tether is wearable by a user. 
     
     
         23 . The zipper assist device of  claim 22 , wherein the detachable tether is able to be worn as a necklace. 
     
     
         24 . The zipper assist device of  claim 22 , wherein the detachable tether is able to be worn as a bracelet. 
     
     
         25 . The zipper assist device of  claim 22 , wherein the detachable tether further comprises a magnetic component.
