Abstract
A portable hand held boat thruster for use on a boat in a body of water. There is a hand held control unit having a switch, a power source connected to the switch, a shaft extending from the hand held control unit, a propulsion device which is connected to the switch by way of the shaft; and a bumper operably connected about the propulsion device such that when the switch is actuated in an on position, the propulsion device creates a thrust and enables the bumper to be disposed against a hull of the boat to aid in docking.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A hand held boat thruster for a boat, which includes:
a hand held control unit having a switch operably connected thereto; a power source operably connected to said switch; a connecting shaft extending from said hand held control unit; a propulsion device which is operably connected to the switch by way of said shaft; and a bumper operably connected about said propulsion device such that when said switch is actuated in an on position, said propulsion device creates a thrust and enables said bumper to be disposed against a hull of the boat to aid in docking.
2 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , wherein said propulsion device includes a housing disposed about a propeller and includes at least one intake port on one side of said propeller with an outlet on another other side of said propeller through which flow path is directed.
3 . The boat thruster of claim 2 , wherein said bumper is connected to a distal end of said housing.
4 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , wherein said connecting shaft is telescoping.
5 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , wherein said propulsion device is one of electrically direct driven and mechanically indirectly driven.
6 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , wherein said hand held control unit include a power source operably connected to a rheostat switch and a trigger.
7 . The boat thruster of claim 6 , wherein said power source is a rechargeable battery operably disposed in said handle control unit.
8 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , wherein said shaft extends normal to a central axis of said propulsion device.
9 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , which includes a motor operably disposed in said hand held control unit and operably connects to a drive shaft which extends through said connecting shaft and operably connects to a gear drive box in said propulsion device which in turn operably connects to a drive shaft of a propeller.
10 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , which includes an electrical line operably disposed in said hand held control unit and operably extends through said connecting shaft and operably connects to a motor in said propulsion device which in turn operably connects to a drive shaft of a propeller.
11 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , wherein said bumper is configured to provide tack against the boat.
12 . The boat thruster of claim 2 , wherein said one side is larger than said another side of said housing.
13 . The boat thruster of claim 1 , wherein said bumper includes an arcuate aspect.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
