Drain system for use with a tile floor

Abstract

A drain system includes a drain cover positionable over a drain opening in a tile floor. A support frame is configured to support and position the drain cover over the drain opening. A plurality of tabs are attached to the support frame and configured to extend below the drain cover.

1 . A drain system comprising:
 a drain cover positionable over a drain opening in a floor;   a support frame configured to support and position the drain cover over the drain opening; and   a plurality of tabs attached to the support frame and configured to extend below the drain cover.   
     
     
         2 . The drain system of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of tabs are removably attached to a bottom portion of the support frame. 
     
     
         3 . The drain system of  claim 1 , wherein each tab includes a pair of breakage points for selectively removing the tab from the support frame. 
     
     
         4 . The drain system of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of tabs define a plurality of openings corresponding to a plurality of set screws threadedly attached to the support frame such that at least one of a vertical position and an angle of the support frame relative to the drain opening is adjustable. 
     
     
         5 . The drain system of  claim 4 , wherein the plurality of set screws support the support frame over the drain opening during installation of the drain system in the floor. 
     
     
         6 . The drain system of  claim 4 , wherein the plurality of set screws are configured to contact and not attach to a surface underlying the support frame. 
     
     
         7 . The drain system of  claim 4 , wherein each of the plurality of tabs extends at an oblique angle between adjacent wall portions of the support frame. 
     
     
         8 . The drain system of  claim 1 , further comprising one or more flange elements extending radially outward from a bottom portion of the support frame. 
     
     
         9 . The drain system of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more flange elements are distributed around an outer perimeter of the support frame. 
     
     
         10 . The drain system of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more flange elements are configured to extend below and support one or more tiles installable over the floor adjacent to the support frame. 
     
     
         11 . The drain system of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more flange elements are configured to increase a contact area between the support frame and a drain body below the support frame. 
     
     
         12 . The drain system of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more flange elements are removably attached to the support frame. 
     
     
         13 . The drain system of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more flange elements are separated by one or more gaps between the one or more flange elements. 
     
     
         14 . The drain system of  claim 8 , wherein at least one of the one or more flange elements is independently movable relative to adjacent ones of the one or more flange elements. 
     
     
         15 . The drain system of  claim 8 , wherein the one or more flange elements define a plurality of openings configured to receive a mortar applied to the one or more flange elements. 
     
     
         16 . A drain system comprising:
 a drain cover positionable over a drain opening in a floor;   a support frame configured to support and position the drain cover over the drain opening; and   one or more flange elements extending radially outward from a bottom portion of the support frame, the one or more flange elements configured to extend below one or more tiles installable over the floor adjacent to the support frame.   
     
     
         17 . The drain system of  claim 16 , wherein the one or more flange elements are removably attached to the support frame. 
     
     
         18 . The drain system of  claim 16 , wherein the one or more flange elements are separated by one or more gaps between the one or more flange elements. 
     
     
         19 . The drain system of  claim 16 , wherein at least one of the one or more flange elements is independently movable relative to one or more adjacent ones of the one or more flange elements. 
     
     
         20 . A drain system comprising:
 a drain cover positionable over a drain opening in a floor;   a support frame configured to support and position the drain cover over the drain opening;   a plurality of tabs attached to the support frame and configured to extend below the drain cover; and   one or more flange elements extending radially outward from a bottom portion of the support frame, the one or more flange elements configured to extend below one or more tiles installable over the floor adjacent to the support frame.
