Abstract
A combination furniture construction comprising a bed frame, movable between a vertical and horizontal position, in which the bed frame has a pair of elongated boards on each end that extend over to a floor cabinet and engage pivots on each end of the floor cabinet, that when rotated to a vertical position on the pivots, the bed frame comes to rest on top of the cabinet.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A combination furniture construction comprising a bed frame, movable between a vertical and horizontal position, in which the bed frame has a first end and a second end endowed with overreaching boards, hereafter referred to as swingarms, of sufficient length to engage pivots on a corresponding first end and a corresponding second end of an interposed base, wherein the bed frame, when rotated upward on the pivots, comes to rest vertically on top of the base unveiling a useful underside of said bed frame;
said bed frame which includes a right swingarm and a left swingarm connected by a plurality of panels including
an interior rail and an exterior rail with a bed support panel surrounded within;
said base which includes a right wall and a left wall connected by a plurality of horizontal panels including a topmost panel of sufficient size to support the bed frame in a first upright mode;
said topmost panel connecting said right wall's top edge with said left wall's top edge;
said right wall including an external right base pivot horizontally aligned along a common axis with an external left base pivot on said left wall;
said right base pivot supporting the right swingarm in the first upright mode;
said left base pivot supporting the left swingarm in the first upright mode;
a means for damping a force of gravity acting downward on the bed frame during a transition from the first upright mode to a second bed mode wherein a mattress support is revealed;
said bed frame disposed forwardly adjacent to said base in the second bed mode.
2 . A combination furniture construction as per claim 1 , wherein said base is at least one cabinet.
3 . A combination furniture construction as per claim 1 , wherein said underside provides a mounting surface for electrical outlets and a television, monitor, or other visual display.
4 . A combination furniture construction as per claim 1 , wherein said underside provides a mounting surface for a desktop or shelf;
a right cable connects said right wall of said base to corresponding side of said desktop or shelf by routing along right underside through pulleys or eyelets; a left cable connects said left wall of said base to corresponding side of said desktop or shelf by routing along left underside through pulleys or eyelets; said cables applying a self-leveling effect on desktop or shelf during transitions between said bed mode and said upright mode.
5 . A combination furniture construction as per claim 1 , wherein said swingarms have a large gear attached;
said large gear rotates around said base pivot; said large gear meshes with a small gear attached to a torsion spring; wherein, during the bed frame's transition from said upright mode to said bed mode, said small gear winds the torsion spring and eases the bed frame to the floor.
6 . A combination furniture construction as per claim 3 , wherein said base is at least one cabinet.
7 . A combination furniture construction as per claim 4 , wherein said base is at least one cabinet.
8 . A combination furniture construction as per claim 5 , wherein said base is at least one cabinet.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
